Mr Roxy - To say Cats is the ultimate bad musical is a bit harsh. Maybe you personally like it, but it was quite innovative for its time and held up well. (Did you see Thou Shalt Not? *shudder*) While I don't like to listen to the CD, I really seeing it on stage. I hate listening to yet another rendition of Memory, but I have to give credit where it's due. The song gave me chills in context of the show.
Dollypop - Totally agree on Coco. Truly awful recording of an extremely bland score. Rex and I Remember Mama are almost as bad.

I learned my lesson. I read the reviews and see the play first before I purchase the CD.
Some Cds I bought and played once were: Sweet Smell of Success and Flower Drum Song (I only liked one song, Urinetown, I only like Run Freedom Run and a few others.

bob8rich - Concerning Follies, it's just people's tastes. I really like LaChuisa's Wild Party, but nearly every song in Follies makes me want to cringe or fall asleep. I thought I would like it seeing the show, but the book was so bad, I found it even worse than listening to the CD. Follies is my friend's favorite musical, so who knows? Some people liked Notre Dame de Paris. When I attended Thou Shalt Not, there was this guy sitting in front of me with his strictly platonic female friend. He was dancing in his chair and hooting at the end of every song like it was a concert. Exiting the theatre, he asked his friend, "Sooooooo? What did you thiiiiiiink?" To which she obligingly replied, "Oh my God! That was the best! EVER!!!"
To each his (or her) own.
