I was just watching my Turning Point tape last night, and it's so wierd to see all the girls that got cast, and think about where they all are now. Joanna's got a hit album out, yet Brittny is basically nowhere. I haven't heard anything about her in a while.
I also remember Sutton Foster being one of the cast members that Martin gave the boot to.
I can vaguely remember this, but the only thing I remember about it is a shot of a slightly overweight girl doing karate while she was being intereviewed about auditioning for the show.

Foster wasn't booted...where in the heck did you hear that? What in the heck are you talking about? And Britny's doing her own thing...

It wasn't done like Grease though where you call in and vote. I was unfortunately one of the children who was a part of that...I was 11 and turned 12 in the process. For adults it's hard enough, but to be a child and have the cameras constantly on your every move at an audition (as if auditions aren't nerve wracking enough) and having your feedback (good and bad) on national tv isn't all that fun. It wasn't a reality casting show, it was something that 20/20 documented and aired at a later date. But to announce who got the role of Annie, they called a group of girls into a room with press like it was some big spectacle and obviously out of all the girls, only one gets picked...so there was one happy young lady (who later wasn't so happy when they fired her but I guess she's happy now with her music success...) and about 10 little crying girls who just had their dreams crushed in front of dozens of reporters, and later, 20/20 audiences across America. That makes for a really great night of TV...
Was harley ott the adorable little girl who lived in the town Broadway? Who got scared everytime she would sing but that martin really liked? She was adorable!
And I totally bought the turning point tape from ABC a million and a half years ago because I loved it so much!
you think that TT would like us to know that she was involved in this production? by any chance?

Yeah, actually I was in this production of THAT show, F-ing Godmother...What are you trying to say? That's the production you're talking about, isn't it?

TT, I was told a while ago that she mentioned something on Seth's Chatterbox once about being fired by Martin.
Oh, and Lolly, I love spotting you on the video haha.
Wow I just rewatched this for the first time in 7 years, but it's like it was just yesterday I used to watch it so much. It's so interesting to see all these kids that became theater successes. You can see a very young Sarah Hyland, Andrea Bowen, ect.

I was a part of this audition process too. I have never gone back and watched a tape the Turning Point, I only watched it when it aired initially on TV. It would be fun to try to spot myself again. Does anyone know where I could find a copy?
LollyNYC- I wonder if our paths ever crossed? It sounds like your experience wasn't as happy as mine. I had a blast and loved all of the excitement with the cameras. But then, I was also auditioning for Molly and Kate, not Annie. The pressure wasn't nearly as heavy.
