People are posting constant comments about this on Sophia's instagram - and then they are angry when they are deleted. I find the mob mentality and constant cyber harassment disturbing. What are they hoping to accomplish? I feel sorry for this girl. The reddit gossip about her firing gets spread about as if it is fact. People post speculation about her mental health, her relationship, her friendships. It's incredibly invasive.

I work at a high school in the Bronx, and the number of students there who *adored* the Annie remake is huge. Every time we have non-instructional theater periods, they ask to watch it--and these are 14-18 year olds.
My "inexplicable casting choices" are their representation.

Benanti was involved in a single reading in April of 2014. There wasn't ever an expectation or plan that she would continue with the show beyond that.

She almost always deletes tweets that are replies (after they have been up long enough for the person they are meant for to see). It's just a form of decluttering, and it isn't unique to this situation.

I'm just popping in to corroborate LaneBryant's information from several of pages back--I think she was attacked a little unfairly--I heard Ms. Pinkins refer to herself as "co-director" twice during the rehearsal process for Mother Courage. I have no idea if she was contractually the co-director, and she did not receive credit as one, but LaneBryant didn't pull that out of thin air. I think some of the dislike came from her perceived persona at the time. She used to be much more reserved around fans--though lovely and funny around people she was working with. She has learned to externalize those traits more.

I find this debate about Benanti's looks particularly amusing because there were people (including a critic--I can't remember for which publication) who thought that she wasn't pretty enough to play Eileen and "Wonderful Town."

I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed reading this thread, and I cannot believe the immaturity that some well-respected long term posters are displaying within it.
God forbid BWW have an interesting, on-topic discussion without posters being likened to terrible students or being accused of having no imagination.

Has anyone sat in the orchestra boxes at American Airlines? I'm wondering how partial view they are. I don't mind missing a few things in exchange for sitting close, but they seem awfully far over. Thanks!

Her Fosca was brilliant. I actually liked her voice in Evita, but the vocal range in Passion sat in a really good place for her. She sounded lovely, and her characterization was fascinating. I don't think we will see her back here for a while, though. She is focused on her film career, and if she wants to return to the stage, I imagine she'll go where she is appreciated.

The Elena fangirls can't be any worse than the Christina fan who has seen the show 20+ times. One morning he was gleefully telling a group of tourists (who hadn't seen the show and were seeing a performance with Elena) how awful Elena was. He played a recording of her on his phone for emphasis. Why would you do that? I particularly enjoyed his comments about curtain call-- he stands for Michael and sits back down as Ricky comes out. Lovely.

Martin did renegotiate his contract, and he signed on for a longer run in exchange for having Monday nights off. It isn't my place to post the details, but it is safe to say that no one is expecting to be employed for the next three years.

As someone who has worked with Jan, she is definitely a trooper who would put the show before her own needs. I hope that she took the proper amount of time off. Anyone see Colleen?
