You know what I want to know? How come every time someone from broadway gets a role in a movie, everyone goes out and sees the movie, no matter how small a part, but when someone who's usually in movies gets a part on broadway, people stray from the show and puke? Idgi.

I have no problem with movie stars in a Broadway show... if they are GOOD. I've seen several movie stars in Broadway shows (Julianne Moore and Bill Nighy in The Vertical Hour, Claire Danes in Pygmalion, just to name some of my favorites) and they were all fantastic, but when we're talking about Vanessa Hudgens(?), Ashley Tisdale, etc... come on.

And about Beyonce... I thought she was terrible in Dreamgirls. She has a great voice, but her acting was embarrassingly horrible. There's no way she could do a Broadway show. Sure, lots of people would buy tickets if she was stunt-casted in a show, but I don't think she'd be able to handle it.

I'd just like to reiterate what was said before about not judging and entire generation based on posts like these.

Vanessa Anne Hudgens as Maria in WSS? That idea may give me nightmares...

I love Kathy Griffin, but she could never sing the role of Paulette. The discussion of her being in a show is really just a waste of time because she is booked like crazy with standup, and she makes more doing one gig than she ever could for a week in a broadway show.

Expectations. The expectation is that someone who is good enough to do eight shows a week is someone who is good enough to be in a film. Whereas someone who is purely a film actor may not have the stamina or skills for an eight show week. If you do get someone who is most famously known for TV - David Tennant, Patrick Stewart, insert others here - but they are good enough to be onstage as well, then that's exciting and grand. But not everyone can do stage. It's emotionally and physically draining in a way film doesn't have to be.

Wow can you imagine Paris and Nicole in Chicago??
"So like I just fake made out with some guy and then like shot him"
"That's hot"
"Totally. . .um so yeah the next line is yours"
"Shaa up!"
"No seriously"
"oh (laugh out loud) so like no you didn't. . ."

I think I'd spend more time trying to figure out how to drain all of the blood out of my body than attempting to find artistic creativity in that one lol

Is this board for real?

Peter H Cook (Christie Brinkley's ex) as Billy Flynn in CHICAGO. {I met him briefly at a diner during the divorce trial. He's drop-dead gorgeous!]

QVC's Rick Domeier in BARNUM.

Eliot Spitzer as Willy Lowman in DEATH OF A SALESMAN.

I agree with Weez.

Film and TV acting/singing is not on par with live stage performing.

Acting isn't just acting, on screen its more aimed at being 'natural' as whoever you are being that day. On stage, yes you have to be believable...but there are exaggerations [not to a panto extent obviously] and bending of reality (ie singing) an actor makes in his or her performance.

I don't look down on 'screen' acting at all, but it's a lot 'easier' to get into that...being natural on screen isn't a walk in the park by any means, but compared to the common abilities stage actors have...there's no competition.

Obviously it used to be quite normal that actors on screen could dance, act and sing...but not so much anymore.

Some are brilliant, however.

I personally thought Beyonce was good in Dreamgirls, but that may be because Deena isn't a huge stretch away from what Beyonce is herself.
