Which celebrities would you cast in any broadway musical?
I would cast...
Nikki Blonsky as TRACY in Hairspray. Thatd be awesome
Ashely Tisdale as ELLE in Legally Blonde
Vanessa Hudgens as MARIA in WEST SIDE STORY
Kathy Griffin as PAULETTE in Legally Blonde (That'd be hysterical)
David Cook as RADAMES in Aida or ROGER in Rent ( he has like an Adam Pascal kinda Vibe. Like his MUSIC OF THE NIGHT on Andrew Loyd Webber Week on IDOL)
Christopher Walken as THE WIZARD in Wicked
Matthew Broderick as FREDRICK in Young Frankenstein

How about George Smithers in South Pacific or Allison Lubinsky in Legally Blonde? Who are they? Just a couple more "celebrities" as inane as those suggested above.

But, I will give you cred for Walken as the Wizard, only because it would be wet-your-chair hilarious. Walken's delivery would be just the thing to elevate this trainwreck to a whole new level of mockability.

Ok, lets assume this person can understand sense for a second.

I guarantee that you have never heard Ashley Tisdale's actual voice. Nothing about it is natural. I saw a clip of her singing on the High School Musical Concert and she couldn't even sing along to the backing of that incredibly simple score. So much so that when they aired the full concert on the Disney channel they actually played the track over the performance. She was THAT bad.

Vanessa Hudgens isn't as bad, however she could never, ever pull off more than one mediocre tune in a row...let alone a full score such as West Side Story.

Out of the whole HSM empire, Zac Efron is the only one who could POSSIBLY carry off a tune live.

Use some common sense, teeny boppers miming along to an overly computerized track on a film set is nothing like performing live on stage, for a few hours eight times a week.


I second what someone said above, don't assume my generation is solely based on idiots.

To agree with one of the above posters: singing for movies is NOTHING like performing on B'way (not needing to get into conversations over which did or did not do there own singing.) The very first thing that is usually done when a movie musical goes into production: they lay down the vocal tracks. Everything else: character, choreography etc comes afterwards.

My young students are always amazed how difficult it is to actually do BOTH and do both well in front of an audience when your adreneline (sp) is pumping! And trust me: my choreography is NOT b'way caliber.
