I would like to see Julia Murney play Ursula in "The Little Mermaid." I think her voice would be a perfect fit for it and I'd love to see what acting chocies dshe'd bring to it. What do you all think?
People have tossed out her name since the show opened...
Not that she would have necessarily done it, but she was attached in the role of The Queen in Wildhorn's WONDERLAND and she isn't doing it anymore...so she must have something planned!?
She doesn't need to have something else planned to not do the show...
Right have a job...or not have a job. Good call.
Being part of a show she doesn't believe in... or retaining her dignity.
This could go on all day ... and many people would say the same about Mermaid???
Originating a role in a new show, .. or going into the tour of a flop show.
I'm not saying either is a good choice. Disney has a better track than Wildhorn though & staring in in their tour could put her in their sights for a new show.
Being in the Wildhorn show is a smarter career choice.
Agreed.
I don't know I saw Julia in Wicked when it was in Orange County. I think she'll be a hoot as Ursula after seeing her resume. I mean she was pretty fierce as Elphaba I can totally see her being firece as Ursula and she has a wonderful voice.
Given the lack of financial success of MERMAID on Broadway, I'm sure Disney will cast a nobody who they can pay scale.

I wouldn't mind seeing Julia Murney in just about anything. Put her in "The Color Purple," I don't care, she could pull it off beautifully!
I will see Julia Murney in ANYTHING. So, that being said, I'd like to see her do Mermaid, cuz it's a production I'll actually GET to see.
It was a better show than it got credit for being, and I have a feeling that the tour will be incredibly well received among the masses outside of New York City. It's a shame that Sierra wont be a part of it, because she was by far the highlight of the show for me.
When was the tour confirmed?
In the closing notice.
Umm...this is never going to happen.
AND if Julia goes on tour who is:
a) going to be Alice Ripley's understudy when Jessica Phillips books Pure Country?
b) going to be the Morticia Addams standby for Bebe Neuwirth?
I don't think Julia would ever be a standby.

And if Julia goes on tour, who will stand-in for the painting "The Scream"??

Of the tours coming up, I see this one as the least likely, but you never know.
Sondheim_Geek, I'd had the thought about Morticia as well, but also wonder if she would do the standby thing.

Julia has built up enough of a career to not be an understudy.
exactly! i highly doubt julia would understudy/standby at any show. simply because she doesnt have to. because she has an established career and she doesnt need to take a job like that for money reasons. she also has a very successful voiceover career.

I'm a big fan of Julia and I don't think Ursula is a great role for her.
I still say Mary Testa would be beyond brilliant in that role!
