It probably will never happen, but I think Taylor Swift would be terrific as Sophie Sheridan in "Mamma Mia." I can picture her singing "Honey, Honey" and "Don't Lay Your Love on Me" very well. Plus, it would be great if she did it this year because she looks like she could be Lisa Bresica's daughter. I realized this after watching Idina Menzel on "Glee" and how Shelby looked like an older version of Rachel. Also, my mom and I both thought Amanda Seyfried looked like she could Meryl Streep's daughter.
Look at these photos of them and see what I mean:

I have actually thought of Taylor in the role of Sophie quite a few times... but I don't believe she has the acting chops for it, to be honest. Although I'm willing to eat my words.
I must say, after seeing her on tour (yes, I saw it) there's not a doubt in my mind that she has the stamina to do eight shows a week.

I agree with you on that.

Posted: 1/21/11 at 5:25pmI saw her on tour also (don't ask-free tickets though), and completely do NOT think she has the 'chops' to do eight shows a week. Her voice is incredibly weak in person. Not that it matters at all. Why would she- probably one of the top 3 most in demand singers in the country right now- want or need to do a cheesy and old hat Broadway show? If she were ever to come to Broadway, I'm sure it would be in much more dramatic and appropriate fashion.

Taylor Swift is cute, personality-filled, a talented songwriter and guitar player, but as everyone here in Nashville begrudgingly admits -- poor thing can barely hold a note live. (her SNL appearance in 2009 was literally painful.) Her "live" appearances are getting better as she learns what her voice can and can't do, but it's still "limited."
Maybe in the (rumored) film sequel where she can be "finessed," but not on stage.
