Starting Friday, April 16 the youth group Kidz Theater, designed to give young performers chances to perform in NYC free of charge, will debut its new production of Into the Woods at the The Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.). You will not be disappointed these are some of the most incredible young performers I have seen. In 2009 alone 8 kids who were previously in Kidz Theater show booked shows on Broadway.
I've seen a few Kidz Theater shows and they are AMAZING. One of my friends has been a few leads in their productions. They always have Broadway and other professional performers and even those without professional credits are always Broadway caliber. This is totally worth seeing. I am going on 4/22! I can't wait.
If you doubt how great they are-- check out their youtube site. I have to admit I spend a lot of time stalking their videos. www.youtube.com/Kidztheater.
I love Kidztheater! I go to all of their shows, well except when they sell out and i can't get tickets! I saw Ragtime last summer and it was sincerely mindblowing. I'm really excited because Into the Woods is my favorite show!
Ah! Kidz Theater is so amazing! I love that it gives young adults and children a chance to show their amazing talents. The kids that were in all of the the Kidz Theater shows that I've seen were SO incredibly talented. I was blown away when I saw Kidz Theater's A Chorus Line this winter and Ragtime last summer. I am so excited to see Into The Woods when it opens! I am going on opening night! (April 16th). I'm also coming again with my friends at a later date. I am SO EXCITED! Yay Kidz Theater!
Kidz Theater is totally legit and does AMAZING shows. The kids are incredibly talented and the production value is consistently extremely high! Check out Into the Woods next week. I know I will be!
Blaxx I've been here a while and although I don't post as much as other people do nowadays I still understand that shills can be annoying. These are just people who knew I posted something here and wanted to get a word in as well about how much they love the program. It's really an amazing group of kids. This is my third show with them and I am beyond excited to begin performances.
While I do think a lot of these posts may have come from students involved, I happen to agree with them. A friend of mine taught a master class for this company and we went to see their production of "A Chorus Line." I was extremely impressed with how they handled the challenge. Nothing was cut or modified for their age, with the exception of a bit of choreography. The material was respected and the story came through to me with more passion then I remember in the recent revival.
I am always weary when a youth theatre company takes on a project that may be a bit too mature for them, but these kids stepped it up. I am interested in seeing how they approach "Into the Woods." Maybe I'll look into it.
