Cats overture

Hi all,

Curious about the overture of Cats. I love the light circle that comes down and really just looks beautiful. I was wondering if it is meant to signify anything. I was trying to think if it had anything to do with the Heavyside Layer or is it just meant to be a design?

Im thinking its just a design, but was curious to get others take on it.

I always thought that the rising of the light ring was to foreshadow Grizabella's ascension to the Heavyside Layer.

It very well may be then Morosco. Curious to see what others think as well, but you may be right.

I still think it’s a beautiful lighting effect that is mesmerizing.

I always saw it as a spaceship. Including the big fat tire that rises with Old Deuteronomy escorting Grizabella up to the Mother Ship.

Biggest crime of that **** show of a movie? Not a ****ing flying tire in sight. Literally one of the most iconic elements. Just... Add it to the pile I guess...
