I am always hearing about how celebrities are doing terrible on Broadway (ex: Melanie Griffith). What celebrities out there do you think are capable of doing or have done a wonderful job in a Broadway show, and don't deserve to be generalized with a celebrities doing bad?

hm.....catherine zeta jones. that girl can sing, dance, and act. triple threat!
Antonio Bandares blew everyone away last year when he appeared in NINE.
aww ponine you took mine!
Dont forget Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, and Matthew Broderick.
Ironic, I just finished watching "Chicago." Completely agree on Catherine Zeta-Jones, definitely can sing better than anyone in that movie, and I could see her on Broadway for sure.
Don't forget Queen Latifah! She was great in the movie...I thought her and Catherine did the best in terms of singing.
Ooooooo. She is so HOT in Chicago. *mouth waters*
yeah, when I saw Chicago all I could think about was wanting to see CZJ do the part on Broadway

Hugh Jackman is giving performances of a lifetime (no pun on BFO) every night. Also, I loved John Stamos in H2$. Molly Ringwald wasn't bad in tick, tick...BOOM!
I'm going to have to second Antonio Banderas. He was wonderful!
"Assassins" was my first opportunity to see Neil Patrick Harris onstage. He was pretty good.

Hugh Jackman, Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Phylicia Ryshad(sp?)and Queen Latifah all blew everyone away. They can come back to Broadway whenever they want.

All the awards available this past season, including a TONY and a standing ovation from the Broadway community - not bad for Wolverine ( aka Hugh Jackman)

I agree with everyone but Stamos...i saw him in h2$ and he was awful.
I didn't think Catherine Zeta-Jones was anything spectacular in Chicago. Her dancing was good, but it wasn't great, and she had some vocal issues with being too tight and a little flat. I know that in that show it's more important to be able to dance, but I really don't see her as being that great on Broadway. I think people like John Lithgow or Nathan Lane are much better. Also, I bet Kelsey Grammar and Robert (is that his first name?) Dennesy are amazing on stage.

No offense to Lithgow or Lane, but I think Zeta-Jones makes a better Velma than they ever could. :P
I won't call Zeta-Jones a mind-blowing musical star until I actually see whether she has stage presence, which can make up for a multitude of minor sins in singing and dancing technique. But she definitely impressed me in Chicago, and it would be nice to see her try her hand at live theater again some day.

When on earth is Harry Connick, Jr. going to get himself on Broadway????? If South Pacific ever gets revived, I'd love to see him as Cable...he was the only good part of that horrible made-for-tv version a few years ago. He'd also be good in Pal Joey.
Pretty Good? Thirdrowcenter, that was a terrible understatement. He was orgastic.

I forgot about John Lithgow. Is Nathan Lane really a celebrity outside of the theater world? I know hes done a few movies, but do a lot of people really know who he is?

Nathan Lane is definately a celebrity outside of the theater world. He has done numerous tv shows, and movies and every year he appears on multiple shows as a cameo, or guest celebrity. He is the male counterpart to bernadette
Does anyone think that Catherine Zeta-Jones is not vey good?

I feel like we make him out to be a bigger celebrity than he really is, only because he is so big in the Theater world.
