I generally don't have any more - nor less - interest in 'known' people as opposed to the 'unknown.' However, I would have been curious to see Liza's reaction the evening she went to see BOY FROM OZ. It must have been an interesting experience for her.

I met Sarah Jessica Parker at '42nd Street' years ago. My friend, sister, and I all went up and said hi during intermission and she was so sweet. Her body guards were nice too. They were sitting 3 or 4 rows in front of us and evidently Geraldo Rivera was sitting a few rows behind us but I didn't really know who he was.
The second time I went to see 'Hairspray', I think Steven Spielberg was there with his son. The night before, Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart had been there.
The first time I went to see 'The Producers', Hugh Hefner was there with a bunch of his Bunnies. -Penny
I was lucky enough to be invited to the special performance when A CHORUS LINE became the longest running Broadway show. When I walked up to the ticket-taker to hand her my ticket there were three other people approaching her at the same time -- Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Mikhail Barishnikov.
When I saw CITY OF ANGELS I sat behind Madonna and Warren Beatty and sat right next to Liza.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick AND Christine Lahti at a matinee of Hairspray when it was in previews...

Liza Minnelli never went to The Boy From Oz, and she said she never will, though she respects Hugh Jackman as a performer.
I have the world's worst face-name connection and recognition skills, so if I've run into celebrities I haven't noticed. I do have a friend who saw Hugh Jackman at a show. (Wicked? I don't remember now.)

Yes, someone reported elsewhere that Hugh and his wife were seen at Wicked.

My favorite and appropriate sighting:
Opening preview of "Fosse" in Los Angeles...arm in arm, in walks
GWEN VERDON and SHIRLEY MACLAINE...theater heaven!
The lights were starting to go down for Phantom of the Opera...and I was wondering why the seat next to me was empty....suddenly Tom Cruise plopped down next to me.
It was quite strange having everyone turning to look in my direction during the show.....I wanted to fade away into my seat!!!

At the Encores Wonderful Town, Joel Grey and Patrick Stewart were in line in front of me.
kind of off topic-but i relly want to see batboy-okay on with the discussion-ve never seen a celeb at a show
probably bad wording, but do celebrities sit anywhere in the theater? i've got few rows up the balcony in the center for both Wicked and POTO this weekend.. i'd love to have someone famous next to me... hollywood (and of course broadway a lot lately) is my life
!!
I saw Brooke Shields, her hubby, and Billy Joel at Nine last year. Also, a while back, I saw Ted Danson at a show.. cant remember which one though.
I was at WICKED last January. No one spotted me, thank goodness.
(Get it? THANK GOODNESS...WICKED! ha...ha...ha)

Hugh Jackman at RENT... he wasn't actually there, I just saw him walking down the street as I was waiting to get inside lol.
I saw Elvis Presley at HAIRSPRAY three nights ago. He was sitting in the rear orchestra.
I think CaptainHook is Nathan Lane.
Oh, yeah..
Tommy Tune going to see The Will Rodgers Follies at the opening night of the first national tour...
I was walking right next to him going into the theater, but I can never go up to celebrities and say hello...
Do celebrities usually get special treatment when buying tickets...any special advantages over the average ticket buyer?
I have seen celebs in the theater and on the streets. Sometimes they are easily recognizable, sometimes not.
42nd Street - Mel Brooks and Ann Bancroft.
Hairspray- Rosie with her son, Jerry Orbach with his wife.
Enchanted April - Mrs. Garret from the Facts of Life. I can't think of her name off hand.
On the street- Mario Cantone
Ann Reinking
George Hamilton
Henry Winkler
J. You are weird.
I saw Rachel Griffiths at Assassins once.
