On several occasions I have had threads I've started here removed. I rarely know why. I wish if this happened the moderator who removed the thread would at least leave a message in our mailbox to let us know that 1. this has been done; and 2. why.
Just a consideration.

Posted: 8/16/13 at 12:18amThat is an issue, but I would just like the curtesy of knowing why a thread I started was removed. I have read the guidelines and although they are vague, I try and comply.

I like this idea. Will discuss, thx.

#5Censorship: Removing Threads
Posted: 8/16/13 at 12:31amI am indeed a mod and also created and own the web site... Oddly, I used to have a tag under my name on the message board, but maybe I pissed someone off (or more likely, it got lost in one of many site updates). Harumph.

Posted: 8/16/13 at 12:34amRob, I appreciate you considering this suggestion. I think it would feel better knowing why something was deemed inappropriate. And, it might be act as a guideline for not making the same mistake.

I think that's a great idea, because it will not only help posters understand, they will know exactly why and (hopefully) not do it again.
Or if they do it again, they will know that a "delete" is very likely coming, and they'll already know why.
It will eliminate the "stewing" that happens when a thread is deleted.
And as Rob has said, there are times where it's actually a glitch in the site. So if there is no email telling a poster why the thread was deleted, they can (hopefully) assume it was through no fault of their own.
