Cheap parking places near the theatre district on a Saturday (daytime)?

I was wondering if anybody has good tips on any parking lots in the general vicinity of the theatre district (a bit of walking is OK) that have better rates than others - this is for a person arriving on a Saturday around lunchtime, and departing after a matinee.

Or even if you know of streets worth checking out for potential street parking - somebody told me in the far West 40s and 50s over by like 11th Ave, some of the streets have unmetered weekend parking where they've had luck finding a space. Anyone else had an experience like this?

How much do you consider cheap? On weekends parking in the theatre district usually runs between $20 and $30. Unmetered street parking in Manhattan is hard to find on weekends because if residents with cars are lucky enough to find street parking on Friday evening they probably won't move their cars until Monday morning.

Some areas of Lower Manhattan business district tend to be dead on the weekends, so you might have better luck finding street parking there and you could take a bus or subway to the theatre district.

I use a site called NYC Parking. Put in an address, even an approximate one, and the hours you need to park. Coupons are frequently available, and some rates are guaranteed. (It depends on the garage's agreement with the site.) I usually print out coupons for two or three garages, because you never know which ones will be filled.

It's amazing how much fees vary from one garage to the next, even on the same block!

You can check Groupon too, but that is hit or miss
