I don't know how similar, but I do know it was. Good luck finding it! Shouldn't be that hard. I don't know how long they've been up, so I could be a little late, but enjoy!

Thanks! I love how the audience applauded when Bebe first appeared in 'All that Jazz'... "Oh look, it's Lilith!"
I love the 'Hot Honey Rag', Bebe is on fire in it

Thanks!
It's very fascinating how clearly you can see so much of Rob's vision that ended up in the film. I really love his interpretation of this material. He so masterfully here, and in the film, has such a distinctly original view on the show but never once betrays Fosse's genius and constantly honors him. I think Rob is a genius!

It was a fabulous production and I have an archive of it (which I should watch again). Ann Reinking did the choreography -- basically recreated Bob Fosse's original for most of the show (a little different from what she did for the 1996 Broadway Revival), but did her own original stuff with the "Hot Honey Rag" (interesting). Rob Marshall directed this, of course, and it was faithful to Bob Fosse's original staging: Roxie sitting on the piano for "Funny Honey", the "babies" in "Me and My Baby", etc.
It starred Juliet Prowse as Roxie and Bebe Neuwirth (in a bob wig) as Velma. Kaye Ballard was Matron "Mama" Morton.

Can someone give a little detail on this production? Like why Juliet Prowse wasn't hired for the Broadway production and why some songs were cut? It looks very interesting...

Juliet Prowse diet in 1996. The revival was in 1997.
No songs were cut for the 1997 revival. Some dialogue was cut.

I adore it for Kaye Ballard as Mama Morton!
To those of you whose Broadway knowledge begins with Rent and ends with Wicked, Kaye Ballard is a phenomonally talented performer who had bad luck picking shows. But that never stopped her from giving anything less than her best, which was pretty damn good!!!
