if you thought the show was so terrible, why the heck did you audition for it!
bitter party of one?
I wasn't saying that at all. I personally liked the show very much. I was saying that most of the audience (which seemed to be comprised mostly of old and middle-aged people) didn't get many of the jokes. It's unfortunate the show closed so quickly. I just think it's funny that they were auditioning for replacements even though it was obviously in trouble box-office wise. I was talking to a couple of former cast members just the other day, and they were telling me how clueless the producers were. I feel bad for the talented performers involved.

I think you should be careful talking about things that you have no knowlege of. I know the producers of the show and the show closed because the owner of the Mercury Theatre was bouncing checks and ripping them off, I personally think that the producers handled a very bad situation rather well.
They could have made of field day of it in the press. No NY producers will ever do a show in that space, cause the guy is sooooooooo shady. Check the track record of that theatre NOT PRETTY!
Ohhhh...so you had a secret motive
I'll admit that I know nothing of what happened with the owners of the Mercury Theatre. But I do know that not enough people were buying tickets. This is coming from not only news articles, but from cast members who know this first-hand.
Again, I was sorry to see the show close and wish everyone involved a brighter theatrical future.
