Certainly cannot go wrong with Brent and Roz Ryan. I haven't seen Samantha Harris yet, though I hope to soon. Amra-faye Wright has been playing Velma for a few years all over, and I've only heard good things.

Well, I guess I will see her on Wednesday.
But you should call her Samantha not Sam, to avoid the suggestion that the OTHER Sam Harris might be playing Roxie Hart.

I'm heading to NYC for the weekend and had planned on seeing 9 TO 5 on Saturday evening...until I listened to the cast recording.
So now I have a spot open for a show and I'm seriously considering seeing CHICAGO as I've never actually caught the show on Broadway. Part of me thinks it'd be a waste as I can see it on tour, but another part of me is dying to see Brent Barret on stage (big GRAND HOTEL fan here...is it just me that thinks he needs to play Benjamin Stone sometime soon?). The idea of man-voiced Samantha Harris as Roxie sort of turns me off, especially since I want to see a dancer as Roxie Hart (I do realize it's not the "dance-heavy" role in the show, but still), but I'm still a bit interested in seeing it.
PalJoey, would you write a few comments when you get back? I'd be really interested to hear your opinion about the show and then decide if I want to see it or not.

Posted: 7/21/09 at 12:42pmRay, Brent Barrett does need to play Benjamin Stone, and not to get this started again on ths thread, but he would make a perfect Fredrick as well. I would still see 9to5 if I were you (unless you haven't seen Chicago yet). Alison Janey and Megan Hilty have such great stage presence and comedic timing (not to mention Hilty's pipes) that it is worth it. Marc Kudisch was out when I went to see it, but I cant imagine him not adding to the production.

Ray, go to 9 TO 5.
A few bad songs aside, it features 4 wonderful lead performers from four hot stars.

Posted: 7/21/09 at 2:48pm9 to 5 has a medicore score, a mediocre book, mediocre everything really (except Allison Janey, who ought to revive the Lauren Bacall musicals), but it's very entertaining. Mediocre can be entertaining. I'd say go see it too. I enjoyed myself despite the mediocrity.

Posted: 7/24/09 at 9:33amI saw the current cast last night, and I thought it was a great cast, I had gone specifically to see Brent Barrett and he did not disappoint. Sam Harris was pretty good. Personally I felt her voice was a little week at times. But it was generally a very good performance by her.

I agree and posted so in the Brent Barrett thread.
But please, let's call her Samantha Harris so it doesn't sound like Sam Harris the singer is playing Roxie
