Clara in the book is brunette. I don't get why she's always blonde in the Broadway version.
I have nothing against fast, wide vibrato (as I have one myself) but I think Christine Andreas just has an ugly timbre.

Actually, Vicki Clark's wig is red and matches her real hair (but is a wig, nonetheless).
I'm sad that I'm not going to get to see the tour, unless I travel somewhere to catch it, because I would love to see and hear Christine Andreas's take on the role. I heard her sing My Ship in the Broadway Un-Plugged concert, and when she used her soprano notes, it was amazing. I share everyone's concern about her machine gun vibratto, however...maybe they'll figure out a way to control it slightly.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 4:52amThough Vicki's wig is reddish and does indeed fairly match her actual hair color, Patti Cohenour (who plays the role Tuesday and Wednesday evenings) has the same-colored wig - so Margaret seems to be a redhead. I'm not sure that they particularly made Margaret a redhead to match Vicki's actual hair color.

I am so happy Miss Andreas is performing this role. I love her. I generally find major fault with singers who have such out of whack vibrato, but I somehow still love her and her voice (as I do Carolee Carmello).

Posted: 6/19/06 at 11:49amNo PalJoey, but Elena Shaddow and David Burnham will be playing Clara and Fabrizio respectively. No other casting is known yet, but I expect an official announcement will be made this week.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

That was very moving to read about Christine Andreas's son.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 2:23pmI thought she was splendid in PIMPERNEL, and I enjoy her vibrato from hell when paired with certain styles of music...but I don't know how I feel about her jackhammering her way through PIAZZA...

Posted: 6/19/06 at 2:31pmI don't know...if Raul Esparza can vibrato his way through BEING ALIVE, surely Andreas can pull off a chock-full-of-vibrato FABLE...
