That article is disgraceful. I can't believe anyone would write such garbage. What is Reidel's problem, anyway? Isn't she entitled to need some time with her family and to be away from all the grind of Grey Gardens. (she's not nutty, she's only human, geez!)
I hope Rosie or someone says something about this. It shouldn't go unnoticed!

I find it somewhat ironic that Riedel is criticizing Ebersole for going on vacation in his first column back from his own vacation.

"What was the name of that cheese that I like?" "you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start" "well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

I love Rosie, and you definitely have a point Bwaygal, but I hope to God she doesn't say anything. Everything she talks about anymore ends up on Bill O'Reilly's show and half of America believes every word that comes out of his mouth.
It'd go something like the actual quote being that Christine is a great person to Christine is great to WHAT?! ROSIE O'DONNELL THINKS THAT CHRISTINE EBERSOLE IS GREATER THAN GOD?!
...and this latest thing, with this media machine, the quote Rosie said, don't be too surprised, if O'Reilly steps in and it's pulverized...

But, I'll be damned if I'm gonna waste my time listening to Bill O'Reilly scream!

(I edited it because mother darling just can't stand bad grammar..Gives it the pink slip.)

Someone high profile has to say something in Christine's defense. She doesn't deserve what she's been dished out here.
Believe me, were I in that position, it'd be me. But, I'm not. I'm not high profile or anything. I'm just angry that a perfectly kind, warm, and gentle lady has been treated with such venom by this writer.
And someone has to stand up for her. Rosie is the most likely candidate. Whether Bill O'Reilly gets involved is another story.

I feel the same way you do. My first impulse, were I famous/her friend, would be to immediately publicly jump to her defense. Hell, I do that, anyway. It's just that no one cares because there's Kayla again spouting off defenses about that lady that played Richie Rich's mom. My concern is that it would fall back negatively on Christine and add stress to an already ridiculous situation. Christine is a terrific person, there's no doubting that. My point is that if it keeps being brought up, Christine is the one who's going to suffer because she's the one who has to deal with any backlash. We're her fans, and we love her, and it hurts to see her being slighted, but we can turn it off any time we want to because we're so far removed from it. She's not, her family isn't, her coworkers aren't. I've seen this same sort of thing play out with another actress, and in the end, it would have only been a mess had she spoken out against what was said about her. She let it slide and nothing ever came of it. No one even talks about it anymore. I really think that would be the best for this, too. So the Post thinks she's "nutty." Her fans still think she's goddamn amazing.

Would Bill O'Reily actually give a **** about this?
If so- Wow, he really is a ****head. Rosie should have every right to defend her friend. I mean, I never liked O'Reily before. I never really listed to his crap. No one should, but if she does say anything and if O'Reily says something...that's just obnoxious of him. It has nothing to do with politics.

He's literally obsessed with Rosie. He'd probably jump on anything with her name attached. It's ridiculous. And I'm not saying that it's guaranteed that it would blow up in everyone's faces if Rosie said something, I'm just being cautious because of past experience with similar situations. If you think she should say something, ask her to. (ask ro at www.rosie.com) I kind of doubt she would, though. Fighting with The Post is like fighting with the Enquirer. There's really no point. Their "news" is always going to be skewed and riddled with falsehoods.

Jesus Christ, did any of you actually READ the freaking article? Reidel was not the one to call her "wiped out" or "Nutty". He was quoting company members. He actually sticks up for her a bit and thinks it is a smart move for her to take some time off. Like many of you, I assumed what I read in this thread until I went back and read the column. Give me a break.

As "Little" Edie Beale, Ebersole is giving a performance that critics hailed as one of the great star turns in recent Broadway history. But sources say the demanding role has taken a toll on the actress, both physically and emotionally.

"She's wiped out," says a company member.

"And a little nutty," adds another.

PEACE.

In response to when the vacation announcement was made, it was at least three weeks ago, on or before March 20th (the last time I saw the show), not this past week as has been stated here; Telecharge had a disclaimer up then for potential ticket buyers.

And I'm loving the quotage in this thread.

Three weeks ago? Last week? Who cares? It's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present. You know what I mean? It's awfully difficult.

Thanks broadwaybaby. I didn't want to give a time frame when I asked, but I do remember it being talked about here about 3 weeks ago. I couldn't find the thread where it was being discussed.

Christine doesn't need anyone to rush to her aid.

I didn't even personally see the article as that much of an attack, but her absences are justified and that is resonated through both her feelings and that of the producers of the show.

That's enough of a justification to override any newspaper article or the views of a columnist.

Christine is a big girl and can take care of herself. :)

...and personally, I'm more concerned about finding my kitschy souvenier keychain right now than what the Post may or may not think about her...
