Oh i know.... but just imagine the gasps pf jpy when you see it for the first time at the end! besides, the Beast gives him some great ballads to show off that voice!

Posted: 6/4/04 at 3:12pmI agree with what everyone's saying, especially about how choreographed her dancing looks, but I think that's just a flaw of the way the show is staged. The first time I saw the show with a different Belle, I thought the same thing. It was so easy to see everyone setting up falls and grabs, etc, etc. Maybe the show has been designed to attract more kids and therefore needs to look more cartoony.

Posted: 6/4/04 at 5:02pmNah, I've seen the show three times. Susan Egan was excellent. When someone can actually sing & act it is just so enjoyable that you really don't pick up on any minor details. I also so Sarah U. and she was wonderful. It's not just because she's 19 either. Christy just plain old sucks. Someone said she will be singing on the new princess diary II soundtrack. Who's casting this? Are they deaf??

Ah, okay...good cal then! As long as the guy stays on Broadway in SOMETHING once Aida closes! He'd also make a cool Raul in Phantom.

I saw her in the show last Saturday (matinee). I was disappointed. Maybe she was having an "off" afternoon. She had to take a breath before hitting the high notes....and so the songs were choppy.
But I'm still jealous of her....being 19 and starring on Broadway.
There were lots of little kids lined up outside the theatre for her, so she must be popular.

Also,
I saw Cheyenne Jackson's name mentioned in an earlier thread. I got to meet him on Saturday. Very nice man. Very striking in appearance -- those eyes and his dark features. Anyway, he was very nice. Just thought I'd mention it.

She was good on the Parade soundtrack, but then again, she didn't have a very large role. I liked her accent though.

I love Even Stevens and think that Christy is very funny.
Broadway actress she is not.
You KNOW the only reasons they cast her was because she looked the part and because she brought with her a HUGE fan base of 10-11-12 year olds who go to New York thinking they're seeing the best show on Broadway. Add the thousands of little girls to their parents and you have a very hig-grossing show.
Blech.
I don't hate her, I think she's fine, I just don't think she should be in this show.
Jessica Grove all the way!

I saw it with her and Jeff McCarthy (gross age difference, FYI)
I think she could do it. I see potential. She can act, but not in this show. And she can sing, she has a lovely, simple voice. But do you get chills during Home? No.
Give her a different role and I personally think she would soar.
As for Jessica Grove, please, give her a starring role in anything. Anything. That girl is awesome.

"a little creepy with the Age difference between Belle and the beast"
I definetly agree with that statement. And i also agree that she needs a stronger voice to play ANY part on Broadway. I too was disappointed with her performance, i was expecting a lot more than what i actually received. The whole show disappointed me actually, i definetly believe that it is aimed more at the younger audiences. It was a waste of my money as far as i'm concerned. She is a good actress on Even Stevens though, but then again the bar isn't set so high for tv shows on disney.
