I didn't see her, but I heard that wasn't that good. But I'm still a fan of hers for other reasons.

I saw her. Have to say, I was not impressed. I was really looking forward to seeing her, and I was really dissapointed. Her acting was fine, if forgettable, but her singing was terrible. She was straining for every note, and you could see her doing it. She like stuck out her and and her neck got all tight.
I am a strong supporter of Ms. Romano everytime this post comes up (about once, ever two weeks).
Her acting was VERY over the top, but effective. She made big movements and guestures, but in this show, to keep the kids attention, I think you almost HAVE to do this. Her singing was lovely in HOME but her A CHANGE IN ME blew me away. She made a gorgeous looking Belle. Stunt casting or not...it was a smart move.
As a side note..I'm pretty sure her name is Christy. While a great performer...I think "Christ" is a little over-complimenting
I do agree with Ashley about the straining and neck thing, but I felt like regardless of how tough it was to get those notes out...the fact is...she got them out and it sounded lovely
She is my favorite Belle out of the bunch (excluding Susan Egan, you just can't beat the origional)

Oh, that truly made me laugh.
And I do agree with NYC that she was gorgeous. She definetly looked the part. I just had a problem with the fact that I didn't think she sounded good.
While she was great in Parade, she was a HORRENDOUS Belle.. one of the most amatueur performances I've ever heard on Broadway.

when was she Belle? it was on broadway, not a tour right?
Yes, it was on Broadway.
She also played the role briefly somewhere else, for another company. (in Atlanta perhaps?)

Yes, she was also Belle for the Theatre of the Stars production here in Atlanta. She was Belle in the summer of 2004.

yeah it was in Atlanta and it was for Theatre of the Stars and performed at the Fox. My sister saw it and she told me it was bad and she was not good. She said her tone was very very nasal. She is very pretty and may look the part, but I think talent is waaaaaaaaay more important than looks. And my sis said the show overall reminded her of a high budgeted community theatre production as opposed to a well done, professional show. The set apparently wasn't as elaborate as they normally are on tour.
Well, the production wasn't a tour. It was a regional production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
I LOVE CHRISTY ROMANO!! I think she is amazing. I saw her on Broadway and in the ATL one because that's where I live. I think she is extremely talented.

I was just talking to some of my friends about this earlier.
Her singing, to me, was not impressive at all. I was expecting so much more out of the show but it barely left an impression on me. I was excited to see Christy but I was disappointed.
Her acting was acceptable, voice not so good.
But here's what I did like. After the show, I was walking and watched the stage door. She signed EVERY playbill, took EVERY picture, gave hugs and smiles to all the children. She took her time. I got a cup of coffee, walked back (theater on my way home) and she was still there with the young children, who will hopefully have great memories of their theatre experiences now!

Why was this deleted?
Anyways,
Shira, I agree with you. When I saw her on Broadway, we left the theatre, went to Theatre Circle to look around for a long time, went to another couple of stores to buy gifts, I think went and got something to eat, and when we passed back by the theatre, she was JUST finishing up with the fans. It had been like, forever. I was very pleasantly surprised that she would do that.

Yeah, I saw her in it- not the greatest voice, good acting
she was enjoyable in the role...
i heard diana degarmo (american idol...) was supposed to be belle some time-is this true?
Eh. Acting fine, singing blech.
I mean whatever.
I still think it was an amazingly smart move on Disney's part.
Got sooo many kids (and their parents) to come see the show.
I mean, look at me, I went again (after seven years or so) to accompany my kid siblings.

I'm ALL for kids seeing Broadway shows, and if she helps that, so be it!
I thought she was fine. She was very cute.
And yes, she was wonderful at the stage door. What a mob!
