Chuck Wagner in DRACULA

Even though I said I'd never consider seeing DRACULA again, I've had a Chuck Wagner craving all weekend, and would very much like to see him in the role. I haven't been keeping up on the news regarding the show, so I thought maybe the DRAKKIES or disenfranchised JEKKIES could answer a question. Has Chuck gone on for Tom yet? Has anyone seen him? Are there any dates when Tom is expected to be out? Don't get me wrong, I love Tom Hewitt, but I've seen him in the role and am happy to wait until he moves on before I see him again. Chuck, however, is a rare commodity these days, so if he is planning a performance in the title role, I'd be 1st in line to grab tickets. Thanks!

I don't believe my post was directed specifically toward you, bronx. Surely there are a couple of others who like the show. Shouldn't be so defensive, my friend, it was an honest question. No windmills here.

Unfortunately Chuck has not had his shot at flying yet. He is standing by! He did go on for another role, not Van Helsing (forgive me for forgetting who, but check on his site).

Chuck has a voice and presense as big as himself. He was a great Beast too!

When I saw "Dracula" in previews, Chuck Wagner was there watching the show from the back of the house. I went up to him, and shook his hand and all that stuff, and he was very nice. However, when I said to him that I hoped he would get to go on soon, he said something to the effect that he wouldn't get to go on for a long time. However, this was in August, and it's now November, so hopefully he'll get his chance soon, if he hasn't already.

I would pay money to see Dracula if he were performing.

I think Namo would agree with me that Chuck Wagner is one hell of a talented guy.

poor Chuck. best Javert I've ever seen. but that was 12 years ago. the last time I saw him was in the Kiss Me Kate tour. I was in the front, so when I stood to give "Harrison Howell" a one-person standing O, much of the cast gave me a strange look. Then I sprinted around to stage door and he was a very nice fellow. He was also understudying Rex Smith as Fred. I asked if he had gotten to perform yet and he said Rex hadn't missed a show since he'd joined, but that there were rumors Rex had to miss a night a few cities later. Damn these reliable leading men. Why can't Chuck understudy Donna Murphy next time?

Chuck is AMAZING!!! saw him in Jekyll & Hyde in Seattle...would love to see him in Dracula...might help the show a little...

Matt, my heart did a leap when I saw this thread. I asked this question a while back, but sadly he hasn't performed the role. I of course would LOVE to see this happen. Tom has only missed a few performances (maybe just one), and the understudy (I can never remember the guys name!) went on. If you are first in line, I'll be standing right behind you.

And yes, Chuck Wagner IS amahzing!

I've seen mannequins give better performances of Javert than Terrence Mann.

I'm a great admirer of Terrence Mann and can't wait to see him in PIPPIN, but something about him as Javert didn't sit right. He's a talented guy, but the problem when I saw his Javert was the fact that the show playing at the time was THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL.

Likely the show will last @ least through nov,maybe through the end of the year...playbill says business has been picking up a little...

no, I didn't catch him in ROCKY HORROR, but I would've loved to see that post- 9/11 re-opening cast. I saw Tom Hewitt and the rest of the originals, minus Joan Jett and Esparza. Funny how the thread's come full circle back to Tom, the man keeping Chuck from glory.

LOL Matt! That reminds me of the other day when I started the Christian Borle thread and people started posting about how cute Gavin Creel was!

But yes, back to Chuck! Seeing him in Jekyll and Hyde (twice) was a milestone in my life! No one can sing "Dangerous Game" like he can! SEXY!

you sound happy about that,munk-it's too bad-a lot of people will be out of work and another theater closed...
And yes,matt,that's subconciously what made me think of terrance in rocky.You didn't miss too much w/ms jett,but raul(as many posters will tell you)was pretty amazing-good cast all around...

I hate the show, but i'm not rooting for anyone to be out of a job. That's why I said IT WOULD BE A MIRACLE IF IT MADE IT TO CHRISTMAS, not THAT WOULD SUCK IF IT RAN UNTIL CHRISTMAS.

But yes, it's the 3rd worst show I've ever seen in my entire life.
