Took these passing by the theater this afternoon. I haven't seen many clear photos of it, so here goes. I actually like it quite a bit. Very effective, IMO.

Says the absolute wrong thing about the show.
But I like it.
Despite myself, I really like it. Oddly enough, it really reminds me of the some of the Brooklyn promos. I think it's the color scheme.
Love the picture. Hate the vibe it gives off.
semi ot: Yankeefan, I love the quote from that fan in your sig file (I always think this when I see one of your posts, finally had to say it)- it takes me back to 6th grade...and reminds me why the hell I hated 6th grade. :)
"SHE is the one who began treating ME badly..." Love it!
That is very RENT-ish and the modern clothes throw me off a bit. I thought their costumes in the show were still 19th century...what's going on?
I like it. I don't know what I feel about the need to put up a "WE WON TONYZ LOL!" sign with everybody's signatures, but I do very much like it. Apart from Lea's top. I have an irrational dislike of Lea's top and wish she were wearing something more flattering.

I still don't really get why they signed the picture, but it's a nice photo.

I still don't really get why they signed the picture
Because they're already too big for their britches and are acting like they're the new RENT even though they haven't earned it. They want to preserve a photo of the original cast for posterity. Even as a Best Musical winner, the show isn't grossing what it should.

It reminds me of Degrassi.
I do like it though.
Also regarding Yankeefan's signature.. Who is that about? I've made it a point to stay out of the Spring Awakening threads.
I love the picture, im not sure its effective as an advertisement since it doesnt tell you anything about the show itself except that it won an award and theres lots of younguns in it, but if its just outside the theatre then I have no problem with that. People who stop there to look at it long enough to contemplate its intention either already like the show or were probably just on their way to buy tickets.
Looks like a Gap ad. Why does every ad campaign featuring any cast (TV, movie and even theatre sometimes) always do the pose variety "look how cool and casual we are thing" ?????????
Heh - you know what would've been funny? The Rent squares thing featuring the cast in their period costumes doing the exact same poses and faces as the original Rent cast. Hanschen would have to be in his white night shirt though.
mateo, that's exactly what I think of it. Too much selling on their look. I'm surprised they let them wear their own clothes, actually, and didn't dress them up.
Mrs Felciano, the person is Lea Michele.

Krysta looks like she has a hump in her back.
I dont mind the poses of the cast, but I mind the "grafitti wall".
Um, a white and blue wall? And then you got the really cheap looking "Winner 2007 Tony Award Best Musical". I don't know, why couldn't they make it look like a real brick wall, and do a different color 'spray paint'?
I don't know, just don't care for the color schemes- as said earlier, very Brooklyn-ish. But like the poses :)
wow yea it does remind me of degrassi
i miss that show
It seems self-congratulatory, and not just because of the "Winner 2007 Tony Award" part.
But they look hot.

And that's not the billboard they signed!
They used silver markers; placing is very different. Oh well.

It looks cool, but them having modern cloths just made it feel weird. It just looks like they're showing off the actors and nothing about the story.
I like the way the sign looks, even though it's giving off the wrong vibe. It's as if the show were taking place in a modern day high school in a big city.
Now, when you get your playbill signed at the stagedoor...you can tell who is who. Very smart!
"Says the absolute wrong thing about the show."
Kind of, but if anyone else sees few signs that are actually pictures of the show, I think people can make the distinction that the new photo sign isn't part of the show (and those who can't will end up in the hilarious comments thread).
Its purpose is to appeal to a teen audience in order to have the best possible ticket sales.
It makes me laugh just because some of the poses are pretty awkward.
