Well I've already got a claim on him since we're dating, so I can wait as long as possible.
Last year the way I asked a friend was by getting his favorite author to sign a book addressed to the boy. The author wrote in it asking the guy to go to TOLO with me.
The whole goal is to be clever. Just asking is fun, but it's more interesting when it's a scavenger hunt or something like that.
And food is always a good way to do it. A friend of mine is getting a pizza ordered to this guy in our class during school and she's writing TOLO? with M&M's on it.

I was talking to my husband about this earlier, and his eyes fell out of his head when I told him about the whole cop thing. He agrees that it's best to just ask . . . even though it may not be the "cool" thing to do, it's probably the most effective.
Hahahah, spiderdj82, I love it! That's hilarious. TOLO is just the name, really. And OLOT (TOLO spelled backwards) is later in the year when guys ask girls. Haha yeah I could just ask but the point of the asking is to be clever! During OLOT the boys do clever things as well, so it's not just a one-sided thing.
That arcade game is a good idea, but there isn't a place near me that would work for that...
I have a lot of time to figure it out, because there is an unwritten rule that no one can ask another girl's boyfriend.
