I'm mostly enjoying it. They've got to fix the gasping in "Without You" and make "Take Me or Leave Me" flow better. My current favorites are Rosario, Anthony and Wilson. The new La Vie Boheme is addictive. I agree that Over the Moon sounds a little shrill; I can imagine how it will play out, but I hope it's not overacting or Idina has dunaway with her film career (inside joke).
Oh lord, there are already songs that are getting me teary eyed. I just got to I'll Cover You: Reprise and my god, its making my eyes water. And Anthony sound so sad singing Halloween. The more I hear Tracie and Rosario, the more I'm falling in love with them. And yeah, Over The Moon sounded a little shrill but maybe its just the clip they decided to use. Oh God, I'm going to be such a mess when seeing this movie and hearing the sounds in full scope with the scenes etc, I doubt I'll stop bawling after I get home and 6 hours have passed. :-P
Some quick thoughts...
RENT sounds very very speedy. I'm assuming it'll work better when we see it.
All of my reservations about Glory are gone, however Adam's voice....meh.
Rosario and Tracie never stop amazing me. The "Meow" in OT and Tracie in TMOLM had me smiling with glee.
While some of the new changes do take a while to get used to (New Years Day, new positioning of You'll See and SOL) I think they will work better in the long run.
REALLY like the all-over rock sound. Was surprised at how well it worked in Goodbye Love.
I loved Idina's breathing in Over the Moon. While it is indeed harsh, I think it's another one we need to see to get the whole affect.
Anthony and Jesse are flawless. I'm LOVING the new arrangements Jesse is doing, I'm just worried he's going to be doing it to everything.
I really like them. Really like La Vie Boheme.
Am I the only one who misses Christmas Bells?
A totally different style to RENT, but it's all good. Won't take long for me to go deep into it. It sounds great to me...but over the moon makes me kinda feels out of place. But who cares right, it's friggin' RENT! 10 more days until I have the CD in my hands!
I'll cover you reprise. wow.
Jesse has really impressed me.
I think Tracie adds something completely different that is wonderful, but I really do miss Fredi.....haha and I just noticed she is credited as "Fred Walker" on Amazon.com. haha.

Ooo, that is so cool.
About Over the Moon...
I believe it was filmed live, right. As Idina mentioned on her blog. So the Over the Moon on the sountrack might just be a recorded studio version and the one in the actual movie may sound a bit different. Because the one on that clip does not sound like a live cut to me.
Just a thought
Yeah, it was recorded live for the film. I was wondering the same thing, though - if the soundtrack version was live. *shrug*
Why isn't it November 23rd, yet? XD

yay clips! I'm a little late to the game here. ICY reprise is, indeed, lovely. as is Santa Fe -- I just love Jesse's voice. Imagine the shock that America will experience realizing that the Law and Order guy can SING!
Finale A sounds beautiful. Rosario does have a weak voice next to the belters we're used to....but it could work in just a different way...which kind of hadn't occurred to me before.
I am not hearing the extension in Glory?

Hey, I LOVE it! (I knew I should have got on here last night so I could have heard them earlier!) Anyway, a few things:
Love the modifications for "Rent." I've always thought that it was the most underrated song in the show, mostly because on the OBCR, you don't hear the as much of the rapid rhythms that create the urgent feeling of the $-less Mark and Roger. Love it, now. Everything sounds more urgent, which is exactly what this piece needed.
Anyone else think that WJH sounds a lot like Daphne Rubin-Vega in "I'll Cover You?" No offense to him, he's great, but he just reminded me of her.
"Without You": Oh! My! God! I love the new stuff in that it gives the more urgent feeling to the song. That was lacking on the OBCR, though it was still a very lovely song. And, having read the supposed screenplay, another thing added visually to the action during "Without You," along with the new muscial treatment, might just rocket it past "What You Own" and "Out Tonight" for my favorite Rent song.
Can't wait till the 27th, and can't wait till Nov. 23rd. If I may quote Stephen Sondheim, "God, That's Good!"
These are all so amazing. I loove that they're extended, it makes for a happy me.
Adam, is so friggin' amazing. This man can do no wrong.Finale A, good God. For him and Rosario.
Rosario sounds wonderful, I liked the crispness of her voice on Another Day.
Anthony is so amazing, he keeps the character of Mark intact, the way we all wanted.
Idina is ... Idina. What is there to say that's never said about her?
Tracie, is just love. Wonderous. I like how they showcased her voice more on TMOLM.
Wilson is still so amazing, he IS Angel.
And Jesse, oh, how I adore this man. His voice is so crystal clear and rich. The ICY:R was so, wow. He's got such emotion in his voice.
I'm so excited. <3
Ugh, I'm going nuts waiting for this movie. The production has taken over my life since... Oh, Anthony started posting on BWW.
Wonderful times. I'll have a heart attack if there's no midnight showing in Pittsburgh...
To going insane... going... maaad
gah.

Em, I come to you as the resident adam expert. Glory sounds like glory to me. What's the extended bit?
I'm pretty impressed with how everything sounds overall.
I meant that they extended the clip. Before the new clips went up, you didn't hear the "time flies, time diiiiiiies" line in Glory.
And those two lines added to Glory made it that much more eargasmic.
I love this cast. I have so much faith in all of them.
I'm curious about how Out Tonight moves into Another Day in the movie if part of Out Tonight also takes place in the Cat Scratch Club.
I'm also wondering if there is dialogue between practically every song or not now. We'll see, I guess.
I was under the assumption that part of Out Tonight is in the club, and part of it is while she's actually walking TO Roger's apartment.
Could be.
oh man how this just made my day so much better. Jesse equals perfection, getting goosebumps from listening to him sing ICYR.
i am in love! that made my day!
