Lincoln Center has been renting out other theaters to satisfy their subscription base. Dividing the Estate played the Booth, Joe Turner's Come and Gone was in the Belasco and In the Next Room is slated to play the Lyceum.
EDIT- Thanks DCR for correcting that.

it pains me to say this, but as a long-time LCT member and supporter, i wish they would either close SP or (better) move it out of the beaumont to another theater. the aforementioned revivals they've mounted at other houses imho do not serve their membership sufficiently.
nothing against SP -- it was brilliance -- but it's time for something new on LCT's main stage!

...why would LCT want to lose out on all the millions they are making off of South Pacific, thereby funding future LCT productions? When a theater company scores a hit like South Pacific, they should milk it as much as possible.
Im just amazed that this revival is still going so strong, years later. Im waiting for attendance to peter out so i can get an affordable ticket!

South Pacific is my favorite show, and always will be. But I really see what you are saying when you say that they should make way for something new, just to keep it fresh.
But they don't need to. South Pacific will still remain brilliant in people's minds, and will be blown away by the talent (well, the original revival cast lol).
Why fix what isn't broken, you know? The Lincoln Center is doing just fine with SP there. :)

1. Wasn't it DIVIDING the Estate?
2. Years? It has only been playing since Spring of 2008. What's the rush to say goodbye to it? Theatrical Perfection. (I have only seen the origianal revival cast.)

"1. Wasn't it DIVIDING the Estate? "
Yes. It was a combination of a typo and me not thinking.
