Closing in 2006

Okay, Let's see who calls them best! Place your bets on WHICH Shows you believe, feel, sense will CLOSE on Broadway in 2006. If you want to get more technicial, Which will not be around come The Tonys 2006? Some WILL NOT, Which ones?

Sweet Charity
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

I second Sweet Charity

Why don't we think positive? Don't you want a show to suceed? There is really no reason why you should want a show to fail. People wonder why Broadway is "dying."

re: Closing in 2006

Not a nice thread.
But, they already have a new show for the theater at IN MY LIFE.
I WOULD HATE SWEET CHARITY TO CLOSE. Denis O'Hare is amazing.

re: Closing in 2006

Ahem,
It is about wonderful actors losing important jobs.
I admire Denis, so kill me if I want him to stay on Broadway.
In My Life is another story. I don't want the talented cast to be out of work, but its trash.
Brooks should take the investor money and give half to the actors to tide them over till they find another gig and the rest can go to Broadway Cares.

The Phantom of the Opera, but only after it surpasses CATS as longest running show. It's just been on toooo long!

re: Closing in 2006

I think Phantom's going to stay for at least another three to five years.

re: Closing in 2006

Yea, last week Phantom sold 85%... it's not going anywhere.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

re: Closing in 2006

Doubt, In My Life, Jersey Boys, Sweeney Todd (will run for about 6 months after patti leaves), DRS, Dancers Life, Souvenir.

Probably 1 or 2 others. If the reaction is not good, wedding singer could be very short lived.

In My Life
Souvenir

Dont shoot me- It looks amazing and all but The Color Purple could fizzle out like Little Women.

re: Closing in 2006

There's nothing wrong with predicting what kind of business Broadway will do in the near future. It's interesting to figure out which shows have staying power and why, and it's also interesting to speculate which theaters will house the new shows coming in.
[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

Jersey Boys is doing pretty well, I think it will last till the tony's.

re: Closing in 2006

For those thinking CHARITY will close before the Tonys 06. I take it you haven't seen all the reports that the Weisslers are in talks with Britney Spears for Charity, and if take the role - it will move to the Hilton.

I would also imagine if the Spears plans fall through, and they can get another huge star - I would think they would move to the Hilton.

Please! I don't want IN MY LIFE to close! It's so bad that it's enjoyable! I want to see it again!

re: Closing in 2006

I really dont see DRS closing unless Jonathan Pyrce does not lure in ticket buyers and Norbert's (and Greg's ) depature in July negatively affects the show. If it does, well, then we know that John and Norbert together was lightning in a bottle. I just hope people give the next batch a chance!

As long as Phantom can sell high percentages of tickets, it's not going anywhere...don't be hatin'. :-P
