The Color Purple: Jan 30th: 7pm Kids Night performance.

This show is fantastic. I was late by like 20 mins because of delay from my train getting to New York, but we arrived during Hell No, which was amazing. Not sure what the name of the actress who now plays Sofia, because I know Felicia left recently or is leaving. But she was fantastic: Her number HELL NO was fantastic: such a great powerful presence. Brandon Victor Dixon was great as Harpo. Angela Robinson was on as Shug, she was fantastic: Her song "Push Da Button" was so full of engery and full of sex appeal. But the show really belongs to Celie: Jeanette Bayardelle was amazing. Her voice was so powerful and made you feel like it was a gospel choir most of the time. The set was goregous, the ensemble was amazing especially during the African sequence beginning Act 2, so beautiful.I must say that Sofia and Harpo was so crazy especially during Any Little Thing, I loved that. I loved the ending and just the complete story told, it was gorgeous: I left inspired and humming. I did not stage door because I was very hungry and they were doing a Talk-Back, which would take alot of time and I was way too hungry.

Jersey Boys: Janurary 31st: 2pm:

I got to the rush extremely early to find NO ONE there at 6:30. So, my aunt and I got breakfast at the Art Cafe and ate and then went back to find three people in line. I got in my postion and my aunt went on her merry way. These three girls behind me in line were being insane: they lit a piece of paper onfire to keep themselves warm and kept being jittery and jumpy and annoying through the hours wait. I kept sane by listening to All Shook Up and Jersey Boys on my IPOD and looking up into Hairspray's windows. I was extremely cold, but it didnt matter. Then around: 9:20ish, the women came out and did her little speech about how the rule about doing rush only once a calander month was being enforced due to scaplers and kids hired by scalpers. Then we sat for about 25 mins then she came out and let us in, I got two tickets for the matinee, I was extremely exicited.

We arrived at the theater and went in and got to our seats: We were Orchestra Row A: Seats 5 and 7, right infront of the stage. It was amazing. Met a big JERSEY BOYS fan, who became my instant pal. Micheal Longoria was in for JYL. And Matthew Scott covered Micheal's track. The show began and instantly I was in love. Christian Hoff was so charasmatic as Tommy, he was just enough of a thug with a heart of gold, you just loved him. Micheal Longoria was fantastic as Frankie, I know everyone raves about JYL, but he is just as amazing: He sounds just like Frankie, which is the point, but it was fantastic. The audience I saw it with was fantastic: they cheered so much that the guys had to break character to their thunderous praise. Daniel Reichard was so great as Bobby Gaudio, I just loved his whole thing about Short Shorts, which was so great. And of course J. Robert Spencer was such a great Nick Massey. He was just a class act, he seemed so into character: as they all did. I was so vocal about my love for the show during the intermission. The end of the Act One was one of the most amazing images at the end of an Act, I have ever seen. I loved how it was the logo and great it was. I DID stage door for Jersey Boys: smaller crowd than across the way at Hairspray where the shrieks of teenage girls could be heard for Ashley Parker Angel. It didn’t matter, Jersey Boys is much better than Hairspray with the O-town heartthrob. I met Tituss {The French rapper/DJ/etc}, All of the Four Seasons: I told Christian, that this was my first time but certainly not my last. He laughed and said he was glad. A quote from the side of the theater struck as true: “The crowd goes wild. I’m talking about the real crowd at the August Wilson Theatre, who seem to have forgotten what year it is or how old they are.”- Its true, among that crowd were teens who like myself only know the Four Seasons from different songs in movies, and then people who witnessed their rise as it happened, this show is truly a show of the merging of generations, and I loved it. It is one of my favorite musicals of all time and I feel like I’ll see the show several more times. “Who loves you, pretty baby.”, Clumsy does.
