Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

When & for what!?

And how young exactly was she when she joined the Jekyll & Hyde company and when!?

Ah..she's so hard to find information about!

And is it true that when she started out in Jekyll she wasn't the best with keeping up with the flows of the songs and lyrics and all that? Haha, that's what someone told me who saw Jekyll with her!? (Not the DVD!)

And anyway knwo what she's doing next?!

I hope Im thinking of the same person you are. If so, I saw her go on for Elphaba in the Wicked tour this summer.

Yeah!!!

She was awesome! Im not sure how good the girl that's supposed to be Elphaba is, but Coleen could so do that part anytime. She was really sweet after the show too.

I saw her as Elphaba she was amazing. I think one of the best talents to play the role. The role should have been given to her but I dont think her voice held up after her extend run for Victoria when she got injured. Also i believe she did not want to say on tour any longer and wanted to get back to her life in NYC

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

I saw her go on in Wicked and Jekyll. And actually the night after I saw Wicked the company did a cabaret at a local club and the normal Elphaba (her name escapes me now) sang "The Wizard and I". Colleen was MILES better than this woman. She should not have been the stand-by

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

Yes it was. The funny thing is, is that the exscuse for Victoria's abscense in the show was that she had injured her back but when I saw her in the cabaret she was up and dancing and moving around... interesting.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

Coleen's the best! I really really would love to see her in a show ON BROADWAY sometime really soon. She can't be too old...the rumor had it she was 18 when she got the role of Lucy?!

And outovfashion07, what'd you think of her live at Jekyll..was she better on the DVD or in person? (I heard sometimes it was the last note in A New Life that she always messed up and paused when she shouldn't have...COLEEN!!)

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

I saw her as Lucy and she was, by far, my favorite part of the show. She was just so spunky and has an amazing voice--I don't remember well enough to remember how she did on "A New Life." It's my favorite song from the show, though (and I saw the show before I heard the OBC), so that has to say something.

ETA: Also, she was 20 when she got the role of Lucy.

She's an incredible Elphaba. They really should have brought her to Broadway.

I was not, however, a fan of her Lucy, either on the DVD or live.

sgv123, Victoria Matlock did not miss any of the Baltimore run, thus Coleen never went on.

And I saw her throughout her run in Jekyll & Hyde. Coleen was best as an understudy. She stepped it up for the PPV filming, at least.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

Coleen ruined Wicked for me this summer. She was by far the worst part of the show. And I'm being kind.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

I saw Coleen as Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde twice, I thought she was just perfection. She had a HUGE voice that just filled the Plymouth. I never got to see Andrea Rivette though, she was out both times, first time for the wedding, then for her honey moon. Oy my timing.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

I know this is an unpopular opinion here, but I saw four different Lucy's (Eder, Sexton, Luba Mason, and Leah Hocking, an u/s), and Linda Eder was BY FAR the best. There was no contest, really. It's a poorly written role to begin with (with some truly horrid lines), so for me, it was all about the voice. And for my money, Eder had them all beat by a mile.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

Well, no one reall has the voice of Linda Eder. If that's always the standard, then we should all die. :)

I saw her in JEKYLL AND HYDE. She was fantastic. She does have a younger voice in the role, but she really brought out the character's vulnerability and sang beautifully. 100% professional.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

She was an absolute doll outside of Wicked too. I took my little sister to see it and while we were waiting outside to meet the cast I started talking to the people next to me. Turns out it was Colleen's mother and cousin. I had told them what a HUGE fan of her's I was and they personally introduced us. We took lots of pix and she signed my Jekyll DVD. Very personable and a talented performer to boot. I hope she has a long career in the business.

re: Coleen Sexton..who has seen her live?

If I'm not mistaken, Coleen was one of the youngest actresses on Broadway to assume an adult leading lady role and I believe she had just turned 20 when she took over the Lucy role. (Please correct me if I am wrong, someone who knows 100%).

IMO, Coleen played Lucy as very young, vulnerable and of course she was(is) a beauty. However, to me, she pushed herself vocally almost to the breaking point vocally, which is not to say she wasn't good...she just took vocal risks, imo.

I did not see her in Wicked, but understand that she was quite good. I also understand that she's had her share of challenges and I hope she is happy and doing well.
