Do any of you know of any colleges/universities in Pennsylvania with a Musical Theatre major or at least a Theatre major with a Musical Theatre division? I can't find any and I really need the in-state funding.

Muhlenburg has in incredible theater program there. I nearly went there.
I have to push for Temple and say that is the way to go for instate, low cost, and intermediate academic standards. The biggest problem with the school is that when you go you have to make sure that you are "IT" or "the next big thing". Because once you get there you will find that everyone is "the next big thing", so be very confident in your self and your abilities before applying.
indiana university of PA. i go there and its a pretty decent program.

I'm going to Susquehanna University in the fall and they have a great Musical Theater program...I also looked at Clarion University, they've got a great musical theater thing going on too. If you're just into straight theater, DeSales University in Allentown has an amazing program. Hope that helps!
remember that the MT program at CMU is not only incredibly selective (they accept something like 12-15 each year) but also that it is a conservatory, and you won't get the chance to take non Musical Theater classes.
also...is CMU private or a state school?

CMU is a private school. And they only take on 5 boys and 5 girls for their MT program. Sometimes, even less than that.

I spent a semester at DeSales University...it's a theatre school and I wasn't a theatre major and they treat you like garbage if you try to get involved with the plays and you're not a theatre major...it used to be Allentown College.
It's a suitcase school and since I lived two hours away, I got really lonely on weekends.

definetly DeSales. It is a great school (apparently only if you are a theatre major?), and they do greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat shows.

I'm a senior in high school and I live near Allentown. DeSales is a definite contender for college. They do have a really good theatre program going on but I want to major in Criminal Justice. They have an excellent summer theatre camp thing for people in college and high school that people come from all over to do. It might be something fun to consider for next year. It is quite expensive though.
Yeah my brother went to CMU for musical theatre... He was one of 4 boys that got in (6 girls), so they're VERY selective!
I went to DeSales, and they certainly have a wonderful theater program. you should definetly check it out - www.desales.edu

I am actually starting at DeSales this fall(in exactly 8 days!) and it is really a great program. They put on one musical a year and I think that they are trying to develop a musical theater concentration. You can take musical theater classes as well as take voice lessons and dance classes, all of which I plan to do!
