I saw Ann Curry on Weekend Today this morning giving a preview of her Dateline special, which airs tonight at 7PM (ET) on NBC. It is all about The Color Purple on Broadway and its far-reaching and cultural status among theater audiences.
I think someone already posted this earlier in the week.
Thanks musiclover.
I'll be sure to tune in. :)
I can't wait!! I have to read a book for a summer class tonight too so I'm think I'll have to find a synopsis of it so I can make sure I don't miss TCP coverage.
Cheers,

Thanks for the info! I'm seeing it in June, so hopefully this will get me excited to see it!
Watching it now. Mostly about Oprah so far! hehe
I would love to see a brief bit about Felicia P. Fields, she cracks me up...
Not too much about the show, but I still enjoyed watching it!
That was a great segment. I wish I could see more of those press clips.

that was a really good segment, both on the show and oprah.
that was nice...i'm such a dork I started crying in the short clips that they showed...I am a big fan of the book and movie so i can only imagine seeing the show.
I don't know about Oprah. She seems semi-fake to me. She gives off this aura of being a bit overdone.
haha yeah i got that sense to...she's ridculous...but that's partly why I love her

Of course, I missed it. Sounds like it had a lot more Oprah then expected.
Well, the show was basically Oprah interviewed, but they had clips of LaChanze and Elisabeth and Felicia and Kingsley which were great!
Great interview. Seeing clips from the Broadway show makes me want to see it again.
I'm not a huge fan of the show, but it's nice to see ANYTHING from Broadway getting national network exposure like this.
