"Color purple" or "110 in the shade"

Hi,

I am going to the city this weekend. I aleady got tickets for "Gypsy" at Sat Mantinee. I am planning to see another before I head back home on Sunday. I cannot decide which one of these two I should see. I love Audra but the review of "110" is kind of cold. Could you people give me some suggestion?

Also, I want to try student rush. Which one of these two are easier to get rush ticket?

Thanks.

Since 110 will be closing soon, so I'd recommend you go see that. The Color Purple isn't going anywhere, and Fantasia is committed into January.

I haven't seen Fantasia but I can assure you that Audra McDonald does not disappoint in 110 IN THE SHADE. She turns a somewhat so-so show into a true gem. Actually, even if I don't think the 110 IN THE SHADE score is all that, it beats THE COLOR PURPLE by miles. I thought McDonald's showstopping "Raunchy" was worth the price of admission alone. Highly recommend it.

110 is AMAZING. I haven't seen Color Purple, but I urge you to see 110 since it's closing in a week and Color Purple will be open for at least another year.

110 hands down. No contest.

Though I warn you that seeing Patti AND Audra in one weekend might make your head and heart explode. I am envious!

Have a great time.

Also, 110's general rush is generally pretty easy to get in the morning, though I imagine it will be less so as closing draws near. Both times I've showed up 15 minutes after the BO opens and gotten tickets. They also have half price student rush tickets 30 minutes before curtain if the show isn't sold out.

another vote for 110...Color Purple is good, I do enjoy it (I haven't seen Fantasia, I just speak from LaChanze experience), but 110 is closing soon and Audra is just *amazing!*

No competition, 110 in the Shade!! Audra is stunning and it's closing soon! It's not to be missed and unlike others here...I thought the show was beautiful and this was a gorgeous production. The rest of the cast is amazing too (Steve Kazee and Bobby Steggert) but yeah go for Audra. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll walk out with a smile on your face.

Enjoy 110! You made the right choice. This production is sensational and it would be a shame to miss.

Thank you everyone. I watched 110 last Sat evening.

Audra is incredible! The show is ok. I have some issue with the plot. But Audra made the character so geniune, so likable. She made the show about a woman who want to be loved. The way she delivered the line can break anyone's heart. And when she sings, I have never heared anyone else's voice that can blend with the instruments so well like she does. It's only her who can make a short, simple song bring tears from me.
