Come From Away closes at the Seattle Repatory Theatre tonight. Word in Seattle is that a Broadway transfer is garuanteed and the cast has been saying there will be no cast recording until the show gets to Broadway. The show received rave reviews in Seattle as well. Do you think this is the show that could fill the Neil Simon empty theatre in the spring or do you think they will wait this season out before transferring? Also sorry for any spelling mistakes, I am typing this up on my phone.
Do not hope for the Neil Simon

I completely agree that the Neil Simon is not the theatre the show should go into. It is such an intimate production that it needs a much smaller theatre. I was just thinking it could go into the Neil Simon since nothing else has been announced so far.
Since Hairspray, musicals opening at the Simon have not fared well at all.
Everyone has their own reason but I do not buy they have all been dogs. I saw many of them and I heartily disagree. If this needs a small house, may I suggest the Booth.

This may sound presumptuous, but maybe the Hudson?
Never thought of that. Has possibilities
It wouldn't even take the Neil Simon. It already has a tenant. It just hasn't been officially announced. It's that bloody Irish show.

The Gander Beacon reports that Come From Away might come next fall. If that's true, would Come From Away possibly try to come to Broadway in the 2016-17 season?
How amazing would it be if Gander had the out of town tryout/pre-Broadway run? Although, is there a sizeable theatre there?

That wouldn't be a good representation of feedback for a commercial Broadway run, though. Wouldn't the residents automatically like it because it's painting them in a great light? It's a small town with a population of 11k, and apparently in 2007 they closed their only movie theater. There is an arts center that encompasses several other towns in a geographic range. Other than that, I think both the California and Washington runs are indicative of success; a DC try-out closer to Broadway may make more sense.
