I actually rather want AI to win, and I kind of not underwhelm by the performance tonight.

Anyway, big cheer for LA CAGE and RED! And Catherine! She makes me so happy tonight. I don't like her performance tonight, but I love to see her win! :)

Come on ENGLAND

What a great night for British theatre, big congratulations to The Menier and Red for doing so well. Great for Douglas and Catherine for their deserved awards, but very sad to see Angela miss out.

Well this years award there was not a sweep, it was never going to happen anyway, like years before for a musical, this came surprisingly in the play category, with Red taking so much.

Best musical Memphis, that was a surprise, the musical that should of got it was The Addams Family, but was not even nominated, even though I thought Memphis was good, I thought American Idiot was better and this show should of been the victor.

Nights Highs
Catherine and Douglas Tony
Come Fly Away missing out
Menier getting 4 Tony's
Red getting 6 Tonys
Promises, promises getting a Tony

Nights Lows
Angela Lansbury missing out.
Million Dollar Quartet getting a Tony.
The Addams Family leaving empty handed, but hell those weekly grosses do make up for it. Will the show be both critic and award proof?

Good god it is 4:30am, I have to be up at 11am for my late turn shift, sometimes it pays to do shift work.

Thanks SADM2 for posting the link to view the Tony's live.

Come on ENGLAND

I'm really pleased with the results of the awards that I care. :P Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Hodge, RED and LA CAGE, and I rather have CZJ winning over Montego Glover. That said, tonight's Tony is the most underwhelming one I've seen, mostly because those performances really are not shining.

100% agreed.

Billy deserved its sweep last year, but if Next to Normal went a year later it would of done rather better.

Come on ENGLAND

Gutted that American Idiot did not win Best Musical (but at least it more or less swept the board in the Broadwayworld public vote awards). Though I have to admit I can't totally make a verdict as yet as I've not seen Memphis. I deliberately avoided seeing Memphis on my last two trips to New York after hearing some of the songs and hating what I heard! Guess I'll have to force myself to see it on my next trip and hope I was wrong to avoid it before.

But - Yay, Catherine! C'mon WALES!

I know this might sound so weird, but I nearly went into tears when I read Eddie won a Tony! That boy is going to be such a huge star! I'm so glad to have seen him in RED twice! Im so glad Michael Grandage won one as well, very well deserved! Go Donmar! Go England!!!!

I think Eddie Redmayne's performance is one of those career making events.

I no longer have to be jealous of my friend who saw Jude Law in Les Parents Terrible.

I am so so pleased for Red. It was so worth lining up in the cold for two hours to get a dayseat for it! The acceptance speech for Best Play was so emotional!

Come on ENGLAND

Red is also something that has never appealed to me - the subject matter is not something that particluarly grabs my attention. But I guess it's something else I will have to get to see to find out what all the fuss is about!
