Ok, so I'm sorry if this thread has already been started but I'm coming to New York City (been to the city but never to Broadway) and my aunt has offered to buy me tickets to two or three shows. I have seen Wicked twice in Chicago and when I went to London I saw several shows I fell in love with: Fame, Mary Poppins and Les Miserables. I have also seen Rent the movie but never on stage. I can't choose which musicals to see any suggestions I will be there from like July 31st (no shows) to August 5 or 6. I'm soooo excited and can't wait to see some great shows but how do I choose?!?!??!
I guess that means you want suggestions?

Well, I've got something to say. No offense, but I'm 13, and I know what The Wedding Singer is about. Age isn't really an excuse on these boards anymore. :/
It's based on the movie with the same name.

The Wedding Singer is about Robbie, a wedding singer(Stephen Lynch) that gets stood up by Linda(Felicia Finley) at his own wedding. He is heartbroken after this happens, and he develops a friendship with Julia(Laura Benanti) a waitress that works with him at the weddings, and then he falls in love with her. But Julia is engaged with another man. Amy Spanger, Richard Blake, Rita Garner, Kevin Cahoon and Matthew Saldivar also star.
mmmmm... good music? the plot sounds very good, btw gavrochegirl: i said i was 14 b/c my parents won't let me see Avenue Q (but I would LOVE to)

really? um....ok my list is this in no particular order
1.Wicked
2.Jersey Boys
3.Chicago
4.Rent
5. Phantom
6.Lion King
maybe
7.Mamma Mia!
8. Hairspray
care to delete any of the really bad ones?
I'd get rid of Wicked (you've already seen it, anyway) and replace it with The Wedding Singer.
I'd suggest adding The Drowsy Chaperone to the list. I can't stress it enough. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen.
I personally would cross off Mamma Mia and The Lion King and put Sweeney Todd in there somewhere as well.

I'd definitly delete either The Lion King, Mamma Mia, Phantom and you have have seen Wicked twice already?
ok, no lion king (what else is chicago theater for)
Mamma Mia I didn't have much interest in but Love ABBA....Phantom....is the touring company good?..+ the Wedding Singer Wicked: Seen it twice but the first time I don't really remmeber anything I was drinking in the experience of actually being in a theater and the second time I saw all understudies who needed LOTS of practice!!! so yes but never with Kate Reinders*sp?

If you like those light comedies, I definitely suggest Hairspray or The Wedding Singers.
Jersey Boys might be running for a bit of a while, so I wouldn't say to see it now. Same goes for The Drowsy Chaperone.
Definitely not Rent, as you'll probably come across some tours. :)
The Phantom of the Opera might be good, if you don't know much about the plot.
I'd prefer to see Chicago on silver screen rather than on stage.
The Lion King has the same reason, you'll probably come across a national tour sometime. :)
As much as I LOVE Sweeney Todd, I'm not sure you might enjoy it.
DON'T SEE PHANTOM TOUR! SEE IT ON BROADWAY!!!! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT!
thanks a lot COOOOOLkid, I was thinking with Jersey Boys there probably won't be another good time to see the guy who playes frakie valli b/c the guy now sounds sooo much like the real guy (i have the OBCR) Rent: Coming to the Community theater, but-is there a good cast on Broadway right now? and Is the touring cast as good as the Broadway cast? Chicago..... ok no more chicago Sweeny Todd has some appeal but my aunt has already seen it (with Patti in it!) and she doesn't want to go again
ahhhhh ok ok ok i guess i might have to drag my aunt to phantom
