Wow! I FINALLY went back to Company today, after seeing one of the last previews. The show is in fine shape, and I'm really sorry it's closing. I had a really good seat, front row dead center. I'll try and keep this short.
"The Little Things You Do Together" was hilarious. Barbara Walsh's delivery is perfect. Kristin Huffman and Keith Buterbaugh make their "fight" really funny.
"Sorry-Grateful" is a song that I tend to skip over on the cast recording. I don't know why. However, I love it in person. It really is a gorgeous song.
Angel Desai's voice is perfect for "Another Hundred People." She sounded great. She plays quirky Marta just right. I love this song. The only part that was kind fo sad was the part with Bobby and Kathy, when she says "There's a time to come to New York, and a time to leave."
"Getting Married Today"... HAHAHA. Heather Laws is hilarious and insane as Amy. When Susan came out to sing her second verse ("Bless this day...") Heather screamed and ran off to hide under the piano. I don't remember her doing this last time I saw the show. Then, on Susan's next verse, she ran and hid behind one of the stools.
"Marry Me A Little" was gorgeous.
I liked "Poor Baby." Bobby's story about the motel is funny, especially the way Raul says it.
"Barcelona" was cute. Elizabeth Stanley plays April REALLY ditzy, but it's perfect.
"The Ladies Who Lunch" - Barbara Walsh is FIERCE. I still think she should have gotten a Tony nomination, but that's just me.
"Being Alive" was heartbreaking to watch, but it was beautiful. I really like how he blows out the "candles" at the end. Some people laughed, but I thought it was a nice touch.
Seriously, if you haven't seen this yet, go catch it while you have the chance.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm possibly going Sunday to see it a second (and final) time.

Posted: 6/20/07 at 11:23pmI actually think the laughter at the end is not "funny" laughter as much as recognition laughter - that maybe this time Bobby will blow the candles out and get his wish for a "someone". Lately the ending seems much more upbeat than earlier performances.

Posted: 6/20/07 at 11:28pmYeah, I don't think it's "oh, how funny," laughter either, but a very satisfied, "wow, that's a great ending" laughter. I always love to hear that collective audience "ooh" and "ahh." It's that moment of pure theatrical satisfaction.

True (except in the case of someone behind me).

Anyway....
hehe. Kristin and Keith's fight changes so much from night to night, sometimes shes much more biting than others. I find his face so hysterical tho.
The only time I hear ppl laugh during Being Alive is AFTER when he smiles just before he blows out the candles. I'm usually just so struck that I cant even laugh.
And yeah, I love the audience's reaction to the end - there's just like this feeling of tension followed by a sign of relief, or something. I cant even put it into words.
I also love hearing people's reactions to You Could Drive a Person Crazy. That is probably one of my favorite scenes

Posted: 6/21/07 at 4:45pmI picked up 2 $36.00 seats for the final performance. The Box Office lady said they still have a few left for closing but, you should probably buy them asap. BTW anyone going to the show tonight, Susan is out.

Posted: 6/21/07 at 6:53pmI'm going to the box office as soon as it opens tomorrow. I may or may not splurge on a more expensive seat if it comes down to that.
