I personally hated the 2006 Revival, I've never been so disappointed in a production. So yeh, go with the original. One of my favorite scores of all time and you can't beat the original for the performances and the sound of it.
And for me, Dean Jones is definitely the best Bobby on any recording of the show.
I have the OBC and the Revival, but it's the London that I play over and over
It's DEFINITELY my favourite

My first Company was the 1995 revival unfortunately. But my absolute disgust at Jane Krakowski's rendition of Barcelona made me realize that I needed the other two. So I bought 'em and if I had it to do over again, I would pick the OBCR.
"All dialogue on the revival recording makes everyone sound so bored."
That's why I like it! They all sound as though they have nothing left to live for. And then comes a great revelatory moment in Being Alive.

Yeah, but I've never in my life thought Company was a show about people who were walking corpses.

The OBC is without peer and Raul Esparza has nothing on Dean Jones. And make no mistake, I think Ezparza is hugely talented ... he just doesn't match the sense of anguish and breakthrough that Jones does.
And I have tried ... and tried ... to see what all the fuss was about the revival. Mind you, I've only seen the video ... but why did it seem like a high school marching band concert?

I actually liked the video of the revival (when I finally begrudgingly watched it), but it does sort of feel like the Art Museum Board of Directors doing a singspiel in the Georgian Room.
Everyone knows how much I love the revival, but thank you, PRS, for that image.

Perfection.

That's a Phyllis Greatest Hit right there.
I liked everything about the revival except that the actors carried instruments in their hands, walked around like zombies and never looked at each other.
Other than that, it was great.

EASILY the Revival. NO QUESTIONS ASKED
I have a question: Which revival? Hopefully, not the most recent.

Yeah. If you're talking about the Raul 2006 revival, that's the one you should get. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

See, even I can't agree with that. And I'm easily the Doyle production's biggest proponent on this board. And honestly, I think it's partially that kind of attitude that gave it a bad rap.
Anyone have an opinion on the 2001 german cast?
I was talking about the most recent revival.
OK, well I think I'm gonna start off with the OBC and go from there.
THanks for the suggestions people!
Oooh, I want to hear the German cast recording. I really like the Brazilian one. I'll look for it.
NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Why? Because you like it? Two questions asked!
I much prefer the OBCR, and I loved the revival. I hated all the dialogue; it makes it sound really choppy.
And I miss the megamix finale.
Ed, I was snarking about your comment that what's his name was the best Bobby ever!
If he was the best you have ever seen that's different, but to be the best ever, you would have to have seen every performer to have ever done the role.
And people who don't like the synch sound of the Roundabout recording? Huh?
It takes place in the 60's, that synch is a Huge part of that sound.
I miss the pit singers from the original, what a crazy sound.
Sorry for the snark.
I loved the 2006 revival, but the OBCR definitely has it. It's the way I first fell in love with Company.
