I purchased TDF tickets for Company for June 12th matinee. I just realized it's the same day as the Tony Awards. Should I expect understudies?

Not really. It's business as usual that day unless there are illnesses.

Yup. Contractually it’s another regular performance. All Tony Awards rehearsals and sound checking was done in advance to not affect each show’s regular performance schedule. The performance ends hours before the Tony Awards so everyone can rest and not feel rushed. My 2 friends in the show are getting ready for the Tony Awards at home not the theatre.

Of course absences can happen just like any other day, but it's actually less likely to have anyone out as they'll already be in the city for the Tony rehearsal that morning anyway. So very unlikely someone would just call out that day unless they're ill.

I've been to the Tony Awards dress rehearsals. The cast members who are performing numbers are there (and the numbers are taped in case there's a mishap during the live performance) and the presenters are there also. The nominees are NOT there but various staff members get up to "accept" the award and give mock acceptance speeches--some of them quite hilarious.
