PREFACE: I am not a big Constantine Maroulis fan and did NOT enjoy Grease but this is just a tibit one may or may not want to know:
Me and my family saw him at Mohegan Sun last Monday night (he did a mini performance in the atrium and then a CD signing - we were there for the basketball game so only saw one song) but we caught up with him in the lobby earlier in the day when no one was around and talked a few minutes and told us he may be heading to Grease as Konike(spelling) starting in September.
That's all - someone out there may care !!!

Posted: 7/8/08 at 10:50pmConstantine Maroulis is so annoying does anyone even know who he is.
#4re: Constantine Maroulis - Grease
Posted: 7/8/08 at 10:50pmIf that ends up happening, there would be one humorous aspect to it. Constantine's Broadway debut was in The Wedding Singer, and the rumor was that the producers essentially paid Matthew Saldivar to sit at home so Constantine could take over his role. In Grease, Kenickie is played by. . . Matthew Saldivar. I hope he has stocked up on his videogames at home!

You know, I didn't think he was half bad in THE WEDDING SINGER...
But I think the whole reality contestant thing is just getting a bit tired...

If Constantine is going in it, then probably shortly after. He was brought in to boost the box office at two shows (his Broadway and Off-Broadway debuts) and they both closed. I'm starting to think he's cursed!

I care, too! He'd be good for the role.

Posted: 7/9/08 at 8:34amI find it so funny that so many AI people end up on Broadway. The judges are so snooty about "broadway night" or when people sound "too musical theater" but the majority of the contestants end up in some show.

I'm a Constantine fan and a GREASE fan, but not a fan of this revival.
Maybe he can help it...?
Always a cock-eyed optimist

Actually, he's a musical theater guy that went on AI. Now he's back to musical theater where he belongs.

There have been 192 contestants who have made the voting rounds on American Idol only 10 have been on Broadway 18 if you add in the off-Broadway and touring shows.
Here's a list that was compiled by Capnhook. It shows which shows the idols have been in.
Amy Adams (Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - Tour)
Clay Aiken (Spamalot - Broadway)
Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple - Broadway)
Frenchie Davis (Ain't Misbehavin' - Tour; Dreamgirls - Tour; Rent - Broadway)
Diana DeGarmo (Brooklyn - Tour; Hairspray - Broadway; West Side Story - Regional)
Anthony Fedorov (The Fantastiks - off-Broadway)
Tamayra Gray (Bombay Dreams - Broadway; Rent - Broadway)
Taylor Hicks (Grease - Broadway)
Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls - Feature Film)
LaKisha Jones (The Color Purple - Broadway)
LaToya London (The Color Purple - Tour)
Marque Lynch (Fame on 42nd Street - off-Broadway)
Constantine Maroulis (Jacques Brel is Alive and Well Living in Paris - off-Broadway; The Wedding Singer - Broadway)
Anwar Robinson (Rent - Tour)
Josh Strickland (Tarzan - Broadway)
Ruben Studdard (Ain't Misbehavin' - Tour)
Katie Webber (Wicked - Broadway)

Let me start off this message by saying I am not a Constantine Maroulis fan.
I definitely find that there is a negative vibe for those Broadway performers who have been found via reality tv. Why is that? I was just now reading about Constantine and saw that he has a music degree from Boston Conservatory of Music and a minor in voice from Berklee. Why would someone with his credentials not be "good enough" for Broadway? It is soley based on the fact that he was on AI? Just curious.....

Posted: 7/9/08 at 10:02amConstantine was dropping hints about this around the Idol finale. I caught him being interviewed by someone on the NY Fox affiliate who mentioned it, and I said to my friend, "Oh poor Matthew Saldivar!" lol. Glad we're not the only ones who realized Saldivar would probably get unseated from his role by Constantine yet again.

That was before he went on Idol.
