Contractual obligations

With all the rescheduling of shows and the Broadway League dates of reopening, I’m wondering how long are actors in particularly, contractually obligated to stay with a production? I know there’s not many other productions going on in film or tv, but what if they had other plans for projects in 2021? Just curious.

Contractual obligations

I'm fairly certain all contracts are now not worth the paper printed on.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Contractual obligations

I don't know how it works but I can't imagine someone being contractually obligated to stay in a show if they have been unemployed from it for over 12 months. I know in the West End at least one wealthy producer is offering a small (very small) financial stipend to casts if they want to stay on board but they are welcome to (and many have) leave the show if necessary.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

From what I've heard, cast will have the right to complete the time that would have remained on their contracts, but not the obligation to.

That's not how contract law works. I can't imagine that specific dates aren't listed in a performer's contract in some form or another. Unless there is language that freezes the terms because of the pandemic (extremely unlikely), then contract periods continue. And considering the nature of Broadway, I wouldn't be surprised if all contracts are now void.
