What do you guys think? I hope so...she's fantastic in GYPSY. Just as good as Benanti, iMO.

There are way too many contenders for this category for Larkin to make it into one of the five slots.

My guess is that it will be Laura Benanti, Olga Merediz, Loretta Ables Sayre, Jackie Hoffman, and Mary Testa.

Other contenders are Sutton Foster, Andrea Martin, Megan Mullally, Mary Beth Peil, Karen Olivo, Alli Mauzey, Harriet Harris, and Leslie Kritzer.

There are only five slots. There will only be enough room for the one standout Featured Actress performance in GYPSY.

You think both ladies from XANADU will get nominated?

I have a feeling (at this point) that the nominees will be:

Mary Testa, XANADU
Laura Benanti, GYPSY
Andrea Martin, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
Olga Merediz, IN THE HEIGHTS
Loretta Ables Sayre, SOUTH PACIFIC

It's possible, but unlikely. Remember, we were all saying Erin Davie would be the second featured actress nominee from Grey Gardens last season and tht didn't pan out. I have a feeling the same thng will happen to Larkin. It's unfortunate, as she is quite deserving of a nomination.

She'll probably get a Theatre World Award, just like the fantastic Davie did last season (and there is no excuse for her not getting a nod when Rebecca Luker, of all people, was nominated for MARY POPPINS, of all shows).
I would love for Larkin to get a Tony nod.

I agree, Ray. Larkin will probably get a Theatre World Award. And what a great way to usher a promising new talent into the NY theatre scene.

I don't really think Andrea Martin is deserving of a nomination IMO, Sutton Foster was the best actress in Young Frankenstein, but I would really like to see Leigh Ann Larkin or Alli Mauzey get nominated.

I loved her the first time I saw her in previews at City Center, and would've said yes to that performance, but since her reviews, she has taken the character too far, imo.

i think they will throw one nomination to each of these shows- and benanti will obviously get gypsy's. i think olga merediz makes a nomination for karen olivo unlikely, and i dont think theyd give a nom to Testa or Hoffman alone...

ie benanti, sayres, merediz, andrea martin and then a wild card: maybe kritzer, maybe harriet harris, etc.

Could she be nominated? Sure. Will she be? Probably not. And even if she is, there's no way she's beating out Laura for top prize.

I think it will look like this:

Laura Benanti
Mary Testa or Jackie Hoffman (or both)
Andrea Martin
Loretta Ables Sayre
Leslie Kritzer or Olga Merediz


It's a very full category, but I'm fairly confident in saying the Tony belongs to Laura.

If Hoffman and Testa were going to share a nomination, it would have been announced back when the Tony committee made their decisions re XANADU (ie Cheyenne Jackson and not Carpinello as Leading Actor, Tony Roberts as Featured, etc).
I'm gonna go with Foster and say that Testa has the bigger chance of a nod. She's just one of those actresses constantly doing good work (please someone give her a leading role!!!).
Honestly though, as long as Olga Merediz isn't denied her nomination, I'm okay.

Was that the case with Side Show? I don't remember but I thought it was a surprise nomination.
