Um, like... this is majorly exciting!! To have the fight on CD!!! I can't ****ing wait!
F*CKING SWEET! I have wanted some of those karaoke songs for a while now!
*sigh* I finally got around to buying the OBC a few months ago and now I have to replace it??
The theatre industry is deliberately trying to keep me broke. I can feel it.
still no heavy, which makes me sad, but I'd buy it just for Its All Over.

I wish the "Vegas" opening of act II was included here.
The Act 2 Las Vegas opening number most know (and which is what is on the Actor's Fund Concert version) wasn't in the show at the time the Original Broadway Recording was made.
At that time, the DREAMS Greatest Hits Medley was used/performed to open Act 2.
I'm sooooooooo pysched about this finally coming out!!!
I am so thrilled about this! "It's All Over" is worth the purchase alone. I've been wanting this for so long.
Lord, I just pray to the gods of theatre and Apple that they allow for "song per song" purchase of this on itunes. I really have no desire to buy the whole damn album again but can't wait to listen to "It's All Over" and "Dreamgirls (reprise)."

Is it going to be available on iTunes?
I was just assuming that it would be offered on itunes. Aren't most "new" releases available there a few days later?

I think it varies. I looked there last night to see if it was listed already for pre-order, but it wasn't. That's not to say it won't be, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't offer it. I hope they do, though, because I too just want the three unreleased songs from the OBC. I can't believe "Driving Down the Strip" was even recorded. I'm wondering if it segues into "It's All Over."
It's great they're releasing some extra tracks, but are they going to fix the tracks that were on the OBC - the truncated versions, the fade outs. The OBC, despite its highs, is so disappointing for what isn't on it, and it doesn't seem to me that this new edition solves the problem.
Nope. All the original tracks from the original release will be as is. Nothing additional was recorded on them -- they were arranged, orchestrated and recorded in that truncated form.
Aside from the addition of those 'new' tracks, everything remains the same. Those 'new' tracks were recorded during the original sessions, but due to time contraints with LP's at the time, there wasn't any room for them. Also, a 2-LP issue was never considered, though many heavily sung-thru shows DID do this as far back as SWEENEY TODD and EVITA, both 1979. DREAMGIRLS was 1981.

I was hoping for "Heavy" and/or Effie's full version of "One Night Only," but like BobbyBubby said "It's All Over" is worth buying the album alone.

Sounds great. I can't wait to hear this show.
