Kalimba - I love Kerope!

There has never been a production of Grease that got good reviews. It is what it is, for better or worse.

BTW, I saw Hot Feet 4 times; once in workshop and three times at the Hilton. I think it would have had a longer run if it had been in a smaller theater.

The Ad is suppose to say "BITE ME CRITICS"?
It hardly does that and they would want to go for something positive and not a nod to the fact that the show was totally ravished by most critics.
Laura Mama has become quite theatre savy with that "owned" comment.
Does shw know that millions of actors and actresses have played these characters before?
Hey, You gotta support your children of course, but use a little intelligence.

I think the ad is hilarious!

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

According to the NY Daily News and linked BWW article, the ad has been pulled and was supposedly a one-day stint.

I am glad they said something. It was an over-the-top attempt to make it look like the show was raved. And was pretty D-List of them to do it in the first place.

hey, don't be dragging Kathy Griffin into the hot mess that is Grease. :)

I think this is my fav part of the Daily News piece- "AP has asked the press office to remove AP's name from the ad," says AP drama critic Michael Kuchwara.

The press is asking that you please not 'quote' the press when pulling together your quotes, kthx. Hee.

Another really funny ad for a flop was the one for the Sondehim/Furth Getting Away With Murder. It ran for two weeks, and the NYT ad the last week said:

"Must close Sunday, prior to National Tour."

The producers and marketing people had a pretty good sense of humor given that they were about to lose their entire investment.
