That ad makes it so obvious that the show is not a hit (critically speaking of course).
How Kathleen Marshall ever got caught up with this mess is beyond me.

How low can you go?
They even had a couple of good quotes they could have used.

"I noticed that Austin was conspicuously absent from the opening (as was Derrick) and he must be thankful he's not associated with this mess"
I can't speak for Derek but I do know that Austin had what has only been described as a "very important" meeting in LA. From what I understand he'd been struggling about whether or not to attend the opening because he was afraid the showing up might be in bad form. But this meeting came up and answered any questions he had left. Go to Grease opening night or go to a meeting that could open a lot a doors for him? I know which I'd do.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 8:02pmEris0303, you joined this board for the sole purpose of shilling GREASE. It has now officially opened to scathing reviews. Your work is done. Go back to the GREASE Forum where you can appropriately console Laura Mama and Maxa Mama. They need you more than we do.

#35re: Creative Pull Quotes in the new GREASE Ad
Posted: 8/22/07 at 8:22pmThat's kick ass. If I produced a crappy show I'd do the same thing.

haha, i find this quite funny, i mean, just that someone could even think of doing that, and making it sound like a good review, if you get my point
i dont know, just take a name of a tv show and attempt to make it sound like some big rave review
yeah...wow
haha, one thing ill definitely remember NOT to do when i advertise...

CurtainPullDowner,
I just went to the site because I too was curious. Laura Mom basically said she had a blast, thought each actor "owned" each character, was impressed that it was the debut for 14 actors, wasn't surprised by reviews, and was happy to hear that her daughter got ok/positive mentions more often than bashing remarks. And of course, she's proud of her daughter.
They also posted a topic called "Grease's big 'Bite Me!' to the NY Critics" regarding the "The One That I Want" Ad. ahhh its a good read!

That whole site is an interesting place.
I give the parents a great deal of credit for posting. They'd be eaten alive if they posted here.

I doubt that Austin is happy that he isn't in Grease right now, but the exposure he got is priceless. He is appearing in "Tully" in September.
Have you seen the show that you pan so readily Kalimba?

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:23pmLynnespock2, to answer your question, yes I have. I have also seen mostly every show that Kathleen Marshall has choreographed, so I definitely have something to compare it to. This is the 2nd time I believe you questioned my right to critique something. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I didn't. Get over it!

Chill girl. I was asking because you put down the show without any specificity.

Lynnespock2, first off, I love your avatar.
As a show, I happen to like Grease. It's quite a bit of fun. When I heard that Kathleen was directing/choreographing it, I really thought her work on it would be wonderful. I was extremely disappointed with the choreography. I was expecting a lot more from her in that department (especially in comparison with her work on Kiss Me Kate and Pajama Game).
This particular production came off as glorified dinner theatre.
Believe me, when I pay to see a show, I want to enjoy myself. Unfortunately in this instance, I did not.
