The show is playing for 2 weeks in Chicago. The press opening was tonight, Wednesday, April 3.
I thought it was a mess, but with a few drinks, you may enjoy it.
Too many of the songs were screamed. Entrances and exits to and from the wings were chaotic. The spotlight operator missed many cues.
It's crass and sophomoric. Suggested blow jobs, and one brief naked butt offered up by the male lead.
This is one of those odd tours that will play one nighters in Akron, San Antonio, and Pensacola.
The audience tonight enjoyed the gay duo, as well as the performance of Brooke Singer, who plays the awkward girl who gets eaten out by Sebastian.

Posted: 4/4/19 at 12:14amSoooo I saw it Saturday in Providence. Cruel is probably my favorite guilty pleasure movie ever. It’s fun but honestly I don’t think it’s worth driving 4 hours good. There are only a few outstanding musical moments. Kathryn steaks the show.

I didn't think the original run had nudity. Did they add the swimming pool scene to the tour?

This version has a pool scene which starts with Sebastian's butt once he removes his robe. I do not know if the earlier production had the pool sequence.

It will be in my city this week for three days (four performances). It has sold terribly and I won the lottery for all the performances I entered. Is it worth $19 plus $4 in fees? I like the music. It is playing in a very small venue which concerns me about the quality. I noticed the cast album was recorded after the off Broadway run. Are any of the tour cast on the cast album? I sent an email to the label, who seemed to have no interest in responding to my question.

If it's the way it was in NY then it's built for a small venue. It's more cabaret/concert than a fully staged show. Assuming the people on the cast album were in the original off Broadway run, then no, I think the tour cast is completely different. I mean, with the way prices are rising to $40 for even the cheapest tickets, $23 doesn't seem too bad. I think it would have been worth it for the cast I saw off-Broadway. Bring a friend and if they serve drinks, have one. It's okay as a show but it could be a great night out if that makes sense.

The tour is definitely staged with a few small sets and great choreography. Plus a somewhat realized pool scene with a wonderful butt to gawk at.

I took all of your positive advice and purchased a $19 lottery ticket for the Saturday 4:00 performance. I like the 90's music and the movie plot, so for that little money it can't be too bad. Plus I was able to get a 4th row seat, really close to gawk at that wonderful butt.

I saw the show today and ya'll were so right. It was a lot of fun. I thought the 90's songs went perfect with the book. And I should add....that butt. I did not see that coming with his build. It was perfect.
