Curtains unfolds backstage at Boston's Colonial Theatre in 1959 during a pre-Broadway engagement of a musical. When the leading lady is murdered, a stage-struck police detective enters to solve the crime (and doctor the show).
Curtains opened on Broadway on March 22, 2007, and will close on June 29, 2008, having played over 500 previews and performances. The show was nominated for eight Tony Awards (including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score).

I will be excited to see this at Boston's Colonial! That will be something ELSE!

I always thought it'd be a good touring show and I'm glad it's Equity. Can't wait to hear about casting.
I'm not sure how well this show will do without David Hyde Pierce...there isn't much of a hook in any of the Broadway advertising other than his face and name. Not to mention it's a pretty weak score and an incredibly weak book.
In your opinion.
So no stops are announced yet? I mean, I would love it to come to the Colonial, but it's pretty booked up for the upcoming season.

I know some people think the show wouldn't be successful without David Hyde Pierce. David is *amazing* in the role, but I think there could be others that would be just as wonderful. I thought someone mentioned (as a fantasy Broadway replacement) Neil Patrick Harris. Frankly, I think he'd be adorable!
I would love to see this tour open up at the Colonial Theatre in Boston.
This is the best news I've heard all day
This is exciting. Thanks for keeping us informed, Jay:)
Wonderful news!
Neil Patrick Harris would be perfect for this role! I hope it comes to Chicago at least.

I agree with Scarywarhol. There's not much about the show that will appeal to tour audiences without DHP. Hell, even with him it only ran 15 months.
Thank you for the good news, j*
I'm excited!!!
Great news! Thanks for the update J*.
I think Curtains will do very well on tour even without DHP. The show is very entertaining and is good, solid entertainment. Sure DHP is charming and grand as Cioffi, and most likely his name will always come up when people talk about Curtains in the future, but somewhere there's another actor who will be wonderful as Cioffi, he's just waiting for the opportunity.
That said, you'd be hard pressed to find a current cast on Broadway that stacks up to the people currently performing in Curtains much less putting together a touring company with equal creditials. I don't see that happening anytime soon. That doesn't mean the show won't do well.
If the tour comes my way - I'll see it, DHP or no.
I hope Erin Davie tours with the show, and that Megan Sikora does as well.
I wonder if they'll try to get Frenchie Davis to tour as Carmen Bernstein.

"In your opinion."
Why, yes. Yes, that would be my opinion...
Yeah, it's polite to present things in terms of "I feel it's a weak score" versus "It is a weak score" when cavalierly and anonymously dismissing the work of Broadway professionals.
I'm sorry if I've offended you or anyone else, I just feel like it's not really neccessary to use qualifiers every time I express an opinion on a message board where we all are just discussing our opinions. It's just grown to be one of my pet peeves, where I always see when someone disagrees, the "It's just your opinion!" Comment. Well, yeah, but that's cool, you have your opinion too, you know?
Anyway, sorry to derail this subject.
