Cyndi Lauper on Saturday Night Live

Hey All, we are trying to get Cyndi Lauper onto Saturday Night Live! NOBODY else in pop music has extended her arm into the GLBT community like Lauper. We feel that the more up front and center she is, the better she is heard about equality! Help us out on this facebook petition. Get Broadway star Cyndi Lauper onto SNL for the first time! Please tell your friends as this is very grass roots.

Cyndi Lauper on Saturday Night Live

I am a HUGE Cyndi fan, and I support this--but I don't know if it's too realistic... her new album is a blues album and the few songs I've heard weren't too... amazing. She needs to return to pop/rock, in my opinion... :-/

I love Cyn, but this is unlikely to happen even with a million supporters. She is an unstoppable entertainer in her live shows, but has never been noteworthy for her acting or comedic prowess. She is at her best when she is just being Cyn-as it should be.

I'd prefer her in a concert hall than on SNL. I also don't love the new CD, but I just got it today.

Cyndi Lauper on Saturday Night Live

OK--I just watched her performance from Letterman a few nights ago--and she sounds very good (even if I don't care for the song) and she looks like she's having a lot of fun performing this new material (compared to her last dance album).

I didn't realize you were hoping for her to host--I'd be more willing to watch her host than perform (singing). Does that make me a bad fan? I've always found her hilarious.

But she did do a terrific job in Threepenny Opera! She is a very funny persona and has received two emmy nominations for acting. I think he may snake another one this year for Bones.

But I really think that Memphis Blues- her album is worth a try on SNL!

She has never been on- not even in the 80's.

Cyndi Lauper on Saturday Night Live

Getting Cyndi Lauper on SNL would be cool, and a lot of fun. But it wouldn't be "striking a blow for equality" because she wouldn't use her monologue or solo time to speak about gay rights. She'd be doing scripted routines and performing songs from her show. That's how SNL works.

What it WOULD do is get her some publicity. The more she's in the public eye, the more her activism would be known. Saturday Night Live just isn't the right place to soapbox, whether you agree with her stance or not (and I'd assume almost everyone here does).
