Well I'm waiting for Cyndi Lauper to play Velma if Karen Ziemba returns as Roxie. Then I'm asking Voiceanth to be my date.

I don't imagine KZ returning as Roxie any time soon.
To the person who suggested Rick Moranis as Seymour: The reason you don't see much of him recently is that his wife died about 5 years ago, and he is devoting his full time to raising his family. He basically only does voice-over work now, such as the moose in BROTHER BEAR.
I dunno, but I despised Ellen Greene's Audrey. Please don't hurt me...
Cyndi Lauper, however, would make me dish out my college fund to see the show with her.

I would *love* to see Ellen back as Audrey. Having recently caught her Cabaret act and chatted with her for a bit, I can vouch for the fact that she looks and sounds even better than she did "back in the day". I'd also see Cyndi Lauper, though...

"Personally I think an older Audrey is totally OK and adds some interesting dimensions to the show."
This is a fantastic idea. The idea of a younger Seymour and an older Audrey who sees in him her very last chance at happiness adds just the kind of poignance that the current revival so desperately lacks and which in my opinion is the major reason it is so woefully disappointing.
That really is one of the reasons I just couldn't get into Kerry as Audrey. You are supposed to have such compassion for this woman who is abused and alone and with someone that young, you just don't understand why she doesn't pick up and go.
Also, I just watched Ellen Greene sing the reprise of SOMEWHERE THAT'S GREEN on the DVD and it still brings tears to my eyes. It's so sad and so beautiful. This dying woman is offering to give Seymour the only thing she has in the world to offer him so that he can live happily. It's something that Butler simply couldn't pull off in her performance. To see her do that onstage would be unbelievable.

I would love to see Ms.Lauper do this role...I know she has some concert dates coming up though because I'm seeing her at the PNC Arts Center this summer, so it might be a little too much for her right now.
Seems a lot of people like the idea of an older Audrey - me too -what about Joan Rivers??? She has the Audrey look don't you think? What a sight seeing Joey Fatone making out with Joan Rivers. Eeeeewwwwwwwww !!!!!!!
I would pay to see that one!
...I'm not even gonna comment about the suggestion of Joan Rivers. Just the thought...*shudder*
But yes, I'm rather keen on the idea of the older Audrey, and now that I think about it, I would like to see Ms. Greene reprise her role and see it live onstage. Maybe I'd need to witness the "magic" of her performance in person to appreciate it.

I saw the original cast here in LA before they went to NYC when I was 12 years old. Ms. Greene was amazing, I never thought someone could play over the top and subtle all in one performance. She truly embodied the character. More actors should realize how nuance can be just as funny as pratfalls.

So, is there some kind of petition we could all sign and send in to the producers of the current revival??
Maybe Ellen could do what Carl Anderson did right up until the time he died and tour with the role that made her famous. Could be fun...

Carl Anderson played Audrey? How was he?

Absolutely brilliant! The blonde wig did nothing for his complexion, though...
