Any idea wha's for her next? Her Twitter seems to indicate something is coming down the pipeline...

Jarethan, I don't think that anyone is putting her above any of those performances (except certainly Daniel Evans in SITPWG, who was a dull bore as George), but she is absolutely magical on stage. Her performance in the Color Purple proved that she is a real Broadway star and I wouldn't be surprised if her best work is still ahead of her. I personally believe that her performance in TCP is every bit as good as the classic performances you have listed.
I also saw her tweet about returning soon which has me quite excited! Perhaps, Once On This Island? I'm kind of hoping to see her in something new.

A little off topic but is the only footage of Cynthia with Jennifer Holliday that small clip that was released of the title song? I'd love to hear (again) Cynthia's version of "What About Love" with Holliday. It was thrilling in the theatre.

I;ve been going to shows since 1955. Seen them all over a lifetime.
Erivo's performance is right at the top of the list for "individual performances"
I;d put Ethel Merman in Gypsy, Zero Mostel in Fiddler, Yul Brynner in King & I, Richard Kiley in LaMancha on that list. Maybe afew others, Maybe.
The amazing thing about Erivo is that she wasn't an established star before this role, that she is so young, and that she performing a role that wasnt created for her that someone else had played before her.
Add it altogether, it's a pretty unique and very special moment.

We don't know they didn't try to find a name to replace her.

On CBS This Morning, Gayle King said that when the producer knew Cynthia was ending her run he found no reason to replace her and continue the show...

Have they announced the tour cast? I can't imagine she'd tour, and I'm interested to see who they pick that'll carry the show nearly as well. (On behalf of my parents who didn't get to see her in New York but will see it on tour.)
Add me to the echo chamber: one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in my life. Not just her acting and character, but from a vocal perspective... to me she just has unbelievable musicality, nuance, variety, and tone. I think the quiet soprano moments were just as flawless as the money notes.
I will also echo that I think Ben Platt is giving a rivaled performance, albeit in a very different way. He leaves it ALL on the stage.
