I have the perfect Applegate: Seth MacFarlane. I'm not joking either.

Brilliant comedic talent and a great voice. He can also be deliciously evil (Stewie, anyone?).

Magictodo82, I agree that Jackman would be a terrific choice for Applegate.

Victor Garber was dreadful in the revival, and I'm a big fan of his. But that particular performance was hammy to the extreme. Bebe wasn't great either, and it wasn't that she was the wrong age, she just wasn't SEXY enough.

Just for amusement's sake, I'd love them to cast Christina Applegate as Lola. (Hey, she's doing another Gwen Verdon role this season.) I don't know how she is as a musical performer, but the idea of an actress named Applegate appearing in a show with a character named Applegate amuses the 12 year old in me.
