Posted: 4/27/12 at 9:57amI'm pretty surprised by the reviews. I thought the show was great fun in Chicago and assumed Spencer would walk away with a Tony.

I'm not at all surprised by these reviews. How could they have been expected to be otherwise?
The critics have an agenda. Frothy French sex farces are wholly antithetical to that.
And Henrik, Boeing-Boeing is a wonderful play, with or without Rylance. In fact, I saw it multiple times in Paris and it was better than the productions with him in it.
Don't Dress for Dinner is likewise delightful.
Henrik, don't turn out to be the same sort of pedant/snot/party poop that the critics are.

But didn't "Boeing Boeing" get good reviews?

Posted: 4/27/12 at 11:47amI'm glad to see Kayden get praise. Her performance was brilliant. It's a shame such a gem is set in an otherwise disappointing band.

"Henrik, don't turn out to be the same sort of pedant/snot/party poop that the critics are."
So After Eight, when I say Boeing, Boeing is a mediocre play that received a superlative production, I'm being "the same sort of pedant/snot/party poop that the critics are."
But when you say Venus in Fur is the worst play to open on Broadway in years, you are just being a down to earth/sweetheart/life of the party and refreshingly uncritical.
OK.
Here's another idea. You and I have very different opinions and maybe we should respect them and each other, enjoy our exchanges, and not deride each other as pedants, snots or party poops.
Deal?

I was trying to make a helpful suggestion to you.
Henceforth, I shall refrain.

My grandmother used to say, "If I keep treating After Eight like a real person, maybe someday he'll behave like one." She died never knowing how wrong she was.
